Lakers are on the precipice of a 0-2 hole heading to Dallas.
EDIT Yep, Mavericks win 93-81 to take a 2-0 lead. Last edited by kenyan_cheena; 05-05-2011 at 02:23 AM. |

I love Bill Simmons. He is a Celtics homer but for someone who lives and dies as much over one team it is refreshing to read and very entertaining. |

This series is a lot closer than 0-2. The Lakers are a much much better perimeter shooting team than they showed tonight. It is going to be hard for them but I would not be all that surprised if they came back and won the series.

I think that was probably the best article of his I've ever read. There was so much enthusiasm and real passion in it. The amount of effort and time it must have taken makes it even more impressive.

He sees nothing wrong when the Celtics get 90% of the calls, but move it closer to 50/50 and he wants the Ref removed for the game. He says Dwight Howard needs to stop complaining and deserves his techs, but when Paul Pierce gets thrown out for cussing and headbutting another player he wants to scream and shout that the refs are killing the game. When his team loses a series because one of their four best players is hurt he harps on that player being hurt as the reason. Another team has their second best player out and he ignores that fact completely. So anyway, it makes it so much sweeter to watch Celtics lose. Though we will see if it continues.

Simmons can come off the ledge, Celtics are getting 90 percent of the calls tonight.

Although I'm not an avid Basketball fan, I usually follow the play-offs pretty closely. Just finished watching the Mav's put a bad beating on the Lakers and have to say I haven't seen such poor sportsmanship in a long time. The Odom and Bynum flagrant fouls just blew me away.
The Lakers are a proud franchise, deservedly so, and should be a lot more professional than that. Good on the Mavs for not responding to those cheap shots. I don't care how frustrated you are, there is just no call for what those two did. |

I'm no Lakers fan, by any means, but it's kind of sad to see them get blown out so badly. It would have been quite a story if Jackson had managed to coach a fourth three-peat, and been a perfect ending to his coaching career.
Have to wonder now if Kobe will achieve his goal of passing Jordan for the number of championships he has won. |

As a lifelong Lakers fan, I've seen a few instances now where the Lakers have come undone like this in a big game (2008 vs Celtics, finals game vs Pistons in 2004).
I have no problem with the Lakers being humbled and being beaten by a Mavs team that was clearly more passionate, savvy and prepared to play. The Artest and Odom ejections were unnecessary and lacked class but were at least not committed with the force to injure and happened at mid-court. But unless Andrew Bynum shows some serious remorse (tweets don't count) for actions in the 4th quarter, he should be gone. You could trade him for Kwame Brown and a box of donuts for all I care. Seeing him take out another player like that, when he could have just as easily disrupted or blocked the shot, was just sickening. And to make matters worse, he struts off and takes his jersey off Rodman-style. Disgusting, I don't want him back. I don't care if he becomes the 21st century Bill Russell. Trade him to the Eastern Conference. Sportsmanship comes first. |

What started out as a terrible playoffs (for me and only me) to watch, Magic losing, Celtics/Lakers winning, has turned into a very entertaining playoff. I credit the NBA for not ruining it.
It is good to see fresh faces every where. Though the best for thing for the league would be some more parity. If it is Dallas vs Chicago/Miami it will just be another in the usual suspects. As all those teams have won titles or been in the title game recently (by recently I mean the last 20 years). I would like it to be Atlanta vs OKC/Memphis. But that would probably bore most NBA fans.

I can understand that. But I would just like to see a new champion instead of the same 8 champs recycled over the last 30+ years.

No matter what I am going to be happy with the ending of these playoffs. Celtics and Lakers gone. Wow what a dream playoff! Other than the Magic winning it all, this is all I could ask for.
