I know I might take a beating for this, but it seems like people are so lazy nowadays that they're afraid of OOTP. Why does a game like Mogul sell so many copies? It's such a dumbed down version of baseball. How can you be a true fan of the game and simply not care about waivers/rule 5 drafts/options..etc..etc...?

I guess in the end we actually benefit from OOTP still being relatively small, because we still have the actual developer commenting on these boards. I'm also shocked when I read the disrespectful posts people put on here even after they realize the developer DOES read them. Reading some of these rants just shows me how much of a pain it must be to run a small business without losing your temper and unleashing a swear-filled tirade response.
Baseball is a business. The intricacies you listed are above the head of many casual fans. Some people just want to trade, sign and sim. There is a reason why MLB console games don't make it more advanced than they do. It's not because they are unaware of the rules, they know that if you make a game too real you'll scare off the casual buyer.

OOTP is a niche market. The goal is to maximize your reach to people who would enjoy the game which is difficult without paying an arm and leg for ads on high traffic sites like ESPN. (Despite claims of ads on the site, I've never seen one.)

It's a great place to start and learn the system I think.

Anyway I'm happy to wait.
IF you are happy with OOTP 8... then OOTP 11 would blow you away... and OOTP 12 adds a number of things to an already very polished OOTP 11.

Cubbyfan23 is a modmaker. He posts mainly in the mod forums.

I guess everybody who has criticized DJ in here, also criticized CubbyFan over there. Who knew?

Markus, since OOTP is to be played for either fictional leagues or replay for the most part, the release date in relation to opening day isn't really important to me and I have a hunch not that important to long-time OOTP players as well. Every release is tight enough that a person could just keep the one they have and enjoy it for years and years as long as the Lahman database keeps coming out each year.

I hope we can squeeze in a configurable/editable post-season in this release and maybe my scorecard idea :-)

NO. IT. IS. NOT.

I'm not here as much as I used to be, but every time I drop by to check for updates on OOTP there is a new thread where you keep insisting the game is late because Opening Day has come and gone. You're wrong. It's been explained to you numerous times by more than one person. People have even gone as far as to list the past release dates of the game, highlight the announcement in the newsletter, and even define what Spring is for you.

I'm not sure what you expect to accomplish with your campaign against this perceived lateness. Markus is clearly okay with the development schedule he has kept over the last decade, and 99% of users are fine with it as well. So please, give it a rest.

Well, now you've really gone and done it!
If OOTP13 isn't ready by 11:59:59PM on January 31, 2012...
It's late.

DITTO!!! And I just pre-ordered even though I have been telling myself not to until I make sure we get a configurable post-season this year just to support Markus's efforts....

Please link to my blasting of anyone over a roster pack or stop using the word all just to further your insignificant argument.

Actually, your 'feather ruffling' is quite boring. Actually, I wouldn't say you're ruffling feathers, but rather that you're making a complete jackass of yourself.

I was thinking that maybe these update threads should all be locked so that the only post here is Markus. Just a thought.
