How long do they anticipate an unaided DSL download taking?
Of course, what I'm thinking is that once the links work, there's going to be a bottleneck of people using the links. A torrent would be nice, but with the security issues involved I can see why OOTP doesn't do it. |

I'm just hoping the Rosters are as of 6/18 meaning the Game starts on that date if your using the League that comes with Game and also meaning Stats and Standings are up to date as of that date.
Also hoping not responding is fixed because NHL Eastside Hockey Manager nver had that showed with all the Leagues active and the stop siming but works in the Offseason. Two days earler for this Game because the 20th was the orgional release date.

Pretty much every post by Mgom.
(Actually a torrent is used when downloading/uploading something with the aid of a file sharing program such as Azurus or Bittorent)

They have been around 160 meg, but today's build grew to 206meg.
I have a very fast connection here, but you have to remember, your download speed is determined by the server you are downloading from. A cap can be set and the more people that are downloading it, the slower it will be. A lot of times we are sitting waiting for the upload to the server to finish, then all of the beta testers attack it. What that software does, is work much like a torrent does, whereas it will download it in 12 parts, in essence, it is logging on and downloading with 12 clients, which overrides the download limit set on the server.

A suggestion: consider using a download manager, like, say, Free Download Manager, when downloading the game. It will speed things up for you considerably.
Free Download Manager - absolutely free download accelerator and manager I've been using it for years, it works great.

I'm not a server expert or anything, but I would wager that download managers make it even harder on servers. Sure, they can be useful under the right circumstances, especially if a server allows resuming and you have a bad or slow connection, but I really wouldn't say that they'd be a better idea than a torrent for the purposes of releasing a game that hundreds of people will be wanting to download at the instant that it is released. With torrents we'd all be sharing the burden of the bandwidth, which individually really wouldn't be much and is adjustable. Otherwise all the burden is on OOTP's servers and they'll just be hammered. Who knows, maybe their servers are excellent, but it'd still help. If people are curious about what client to try out, I'd highly recommend utorrent. I liked Azureus for quite awhile too, but utorrent has convinced me that it's much better.

So that's 7pm for all of us in Blighty. Jolly good show. I can pop the download on before I slope off to the pub and install when I come back. Suits me down to the ground!

Azureus and bittorrent were suggested previously in the thread, but not utorrent.
