I notice, at least in my most recent universe, that the game does a good job of keeping players with teams for long careers, that guys are far more likely to stay with the same club for a decade or close to that time, which you didn't see much of in the past. I like the realism in that.

I don't know exactly how realistic that is these days, but again, that's one of those things where I bend reality a bit in terms of what I would prefer to see in modern baseball. Like more complete games, if I had my druthers.

You know how once in a while you will see a "love that mediocre loyal guy who is the soul of the team" threads here? I like to see that too, and more so when it's a Biggio or Jeter type of star. Of course, that does not happen too often IRL. Seeing it somewhat more often in my game is a welcome divergence from an absolute adherence to a standard for realism.

It occurs to me that every time that I post here, and elsewhere at times, that I see everything from a solo fictional viewpoint. I think the other regular contributors to this thread are pretty much the same. It's interesting to note the absence of primarily historical players from this thread, at least so far.

Likewise, I'm solely a fictional solo player and so, it is the way I see stuff more often than not.

I've noticed in this version lots of players who leave one league for another, if/when coming back to the previous league, will often end up with the same team they were at before.

I have no idea if this is designed or if I just tend to look at players who follow this pattern more often than others. Either way, intentional or not, it's kind of cool.

I've noticed this too and I like it.

I play out all my team's games.

I won 94 games in the regular season, my first season, and won my division. I had the runner-up and 3rd place finisher for Cy Young (Sandy Koufax and Smokey Joe Wood - Roy Oswalt won it for a divisional rival) as well as the League MVP (Mel Ott). I had also remained virtually injury free all season.

Then, in early September, Ott went down for what would have been until Game 3 of the World Series. THEN, with 2 games left in the regular season, my closer (Papelbon) went down until sometime in November.

I ended up getting in a 3-0 hole in the LCS but won the next 2 games. Ended up losing in Game 6. My uberreliable setup man (John Franco), who had been "hot" all season and had an ERA of about 1.30 ended up getting shelled as the closer in post-season, to the tune of an ERA near 100. Yes, one-hundred.

Still, I didn't have any problem with the "realism" of the game come post-season. Had I not lost Ott and Paps things likely would have turned out differently.

Such is baseball!

Well, that's my two cents. . .

I'm tempted to play out all of my games one of these seasons. I have a hard time slowing down, though. It'd be fun to do it one year, especially once I have a team of players I'm excited about.
