Suggestion
Allow a player and his contract to "loaned out" to another team for a negotiated period of time. This feature was present in EHM. Reason This functionality is needed to make Fall/Winter/Instructional Leagues work properly. Currently, prospects for a major league team cannot play in a winter league because they are under contract to that major league club; the parent team would have to trade or release the player before they could play in another league. Allowing major league teams to negotiate the loaning of players to other clubs will allow OOTP players and prospects to move around the winter leagues in the same fashion that they do in real life. Priority High (Winter Leagues are a pointless feature without this). - Kai

Suggestion
Contracts need a buyout if the contract has a team option. Reason All real option based contracts have some sort of buyout that the team is on the hook for and this should be part of the game. Priority High (critical for proper contract negotiations). |

Suggestion
Contracts should have a limited no trade clause option. Reason Most contracts for star players have limited no trade clauses where the player is allowed to select a certain number of teams they will accept a trade to. Rather than just getting a "player refuses to accept trade" answer. Players often have no trade clauses but will move to a contender. Priority High (I think it adds a dimension that would really add to the experience). |

Player Personalities
What would even furter separate this game from the field is a vast improvement of the depth and rate of occurances of player personalities. More fan reaction, more peronal emails, more press based on specific players...this COULD be AWESOME, but right now is merely passable.
THANKS!

Player Personalities
Suggestion - Extensive expansion of player personalities in contract negotiations, MORE PRIVATE EMAILS to include clubhouse and checmistry issues, more press based on indivdual players, just much more personal info and communication from players.
Reason - This is one of the things that sets the very best sims apart from the field. A fully developed personality system changes EVERYTHING for the better, enhances game play and makes it both more fun and more challenging. This will send OOTP eons past the competition and keep loyal users on the edge of our seats. Plus, it is simply more REAL and MORE FUN! Priority - HIGH...simply because this will skyrocket this game to a whole other level.

Suggestion
Not sure if this has been suggested here or elsewhere. Allow leagues to purchase the contract through negotiation of independent league, unaffiliated minor league, and foreign league players. This could either be a single check option or multi-check option to include select leagues in a universe. An option to specify a number limit or frequency setting of such contract purchases could be included as well. Players with high greed and/or unhappiness would be easier to "lure away" from their current contract. Reason This would simulate real life interaction between MLB-independent leagues, and a way for MLB to acquire players from an unaffiliated minor league in historical universes. This could also simulate outlaw leagues not respecting contracts of other leagues or players jumping to another league, i.e., breach contract with their current team to sign with another. I suppose this could be done manually now, but having this occur via the AI would be bonus. Priority Medium-High

Suggestion
Make salaries more performance-based than talent-based. Reason I'm still seeing an excess number of 40-home run first basemen signing 1 million dollar contracts. First-basemen are extremely undervalued in OOTP. There should be high-demand for power hitters - instead the game relies too much on VORP and secondary skills. This is great, but not realistic. Priority Medium |

Have players take into consideration home country (or willingness to leave home country) when signing a free agent contract. (My apologies if this is included already.) Reason Make it so that if a player from country A is offered the same contract from a team in country A and country B, they'll take the contract from the team in country A. Of course, this can be adjustable (if the player has a "willingness to go abroad" rating...sort of like in FM). Priority Low |

Player/Personnel Agents. Selectable like searching for a coach. Reason Would greatly enhance off-season negotiations interacting with an player's agent. They are a huge part of contract negotiations. Plus it's something that can be enhanced over time, year after year... etc, etc. Priority Medium... (HIGH in my personal opinion though)

Suggestion: Not sure if this is the right place for this, but what the heck: Allow retired players to be hired as coaches/managers
Reason(s): Beneficial for historical and fictional leagues, gives more color and richness to a league's history Priority: Fairly low, compared to other needs

Familiarity Affecting Free Agency
Suggestion:
A player may be more likely to sign with a team that has relatives, friends, or former teammates/coaches on the roster. (To implement the "former teammate/coach" aspect, the game would have to keep track of how many days each player has been on the same team with another player/coach and may even take into consideration his morale while on the aforementioned team.) Conversely, a player may wish to avoid playing on a team with an "enemy". Reason: IRL, players typically choose to play on teams with players they are familiar with. (see Roger Clemens & Andy Pettitte) Priority: I can't imagine how complicated the "Familiarity Index" would have to be for this feature to be effective, although I'd love to see the game at least take relatives, friends, and maybe enemies into account. So for a complete "Familiarity Index", priority is VERY LOW. For a basic one, I'll go with MEDIUM-LOW. |
