I checked and didn't get an email about the pre-order discount, even though I bought both 6.5 and 2006.

I pre-ordered, even though I wasn't as enthused about 2006 as I was about 6.x. Then again, I wasn't horribly disappointed in 2006 like a number of people were, so...

Do you really like 1.0.3 from OOTP 2006?

Well its better than the release version. I usually just sim Historical leagues. Still cant get the stolen bases right. Sometimes its way too high, other times its way low.

Thanks to Marc, I got my discount code, and pre-ordered this morning, I did this even before having my first cup of coffee, I never do anything before that first cup of coffee.

I'm in. You can count me as one of the people who thought 2006 was fantastic - I've been waiting for the multi-league universe option in a baseball game for decades. 2007 is going to be even groovier.

Thanks man! (I assume you mean SI and Markus, but the beta testers appreciate it too!)

Although it's not as easy as expansion, you can do your own promotion and relegation via the offseason restructuring options. It's not point and click, but all of the histories will follow and with a bit of work on your part it can have the desired results.

Although it may be difficult to get past the tone of some flames or the ignorance of some of the posters, the critisisms are what improve each version. There will always be flames as well as fanboys, it's how you deal with the info that matters.

I pre-ordered. Prior to the release of all the information about 2007, I was convinced that I would not do so. But after hearing from the beta team and seeing how interactive Markus et al have been - even more so than usual - I have been swayed. I have never had the level of confidence in an OOTP release that I have in this one. I hope I will not be let down (I doubt I will be).

So if I already pre-ordered and Marc just gave me the discount code, anyone know how I can get the discount?

That $7.00 could have saved the life of an ill-fated Ugandan boy.

Or it could have purchased 6+ items on the dollar menu (accounting for tax) at the local fast food establishment of your choice!

What's your opinion of OOTP 2006?

I think if you liked OOTP 2006, you will love OOTP 2007. It is faster, more stable, easier to use, and has stuff in it that will make you a happy camper. The AI is slightly better, and major engine elements are getting scary close to historic baseball norms.

I think if you loved 6.51, and hated OOTP 2006, you should get the demo first. I think it's a better game by an order of magnitude. But, I am not the one buying the game. Get the demo. Let the demo tell you if you like it. If you don't like it, you saved $30. At that point, if you love it, it's $8 more for being a patient, cautious game buyer.

I think if you loved 6.51, liked it, but was disappointed that feature X was unimplemented, you will likely love OOTP 2007. Maybe you should preorder, or maybe wait for a demo. This is tough to call. If $30 means something to you, wait for a demo. If $30 is nothing to you, support the game and order it; it's a major deal at a discounted price.

If you've never bought the game, get the demo and a Lahman database, and set aside a weekend. You should be hooked.

My set of biases?

I loved 6.12. Did not buy 6.5. I think 2006 is better than 6.

The only time I play 2006 anymore is for an online league, and I am pushing for as an agressive move to 2007 as possible.
