I guess I couldn't have asked for a better performance so far from my bunch of scrubs...... series tied 2-2 heading back to Hamilton for the deciding game.... edit: Syrups lose game 5 by a score of 4-3..... I see Hartford has advanced as well, so Waffletown fans will be pulling for them to live up to their name and take down the whale. Let's see an Asheboro-Hartford finals Last edited by stl jason; 04-19-2020 at 03:26 PM. |

Looking forward to seeing more of allenciox again. Puppies have made some pickups to boost their hitting. Playing the long game. I did the live missions on another account and cannot go through that hell again. Once was enough.

I see the Bombers and the Caspers are headed to a deciding game in the playoffs. I like the Caspers since they are named after an American Eskimo per the owner, and I have one of those dogs myself, but the Bombers would be interesting because the Saints have a full on hitters park and mostly play the longball also.

Bombers it is, they gave me a huge run for my money last year.

Congrats to the Whalers
Just finished a google hang out, so my first chance to check on the playoffs since game one. Hartford came back from down 2-1, winning game 5 at the Moonlight Roundup Corral to dump crown winner Terra Incognita. They'll face the whale that the Syrups just took to five games, so hopefully Waffletown softened them up for you. Good luck to you. Be nice to see you face the Road Dogs in the final.
On the ST165 side, the Port Ruppert Mundys just dropped game 5 at home, 2-1, in ten innings. Dyar Miller was the culprit. After saving 41 games with a 2.58 ERA during the regular season, he went 0-2, with a 12+ ERA in the playoffs. The Mundys actually had the lead and should have won in three or four games, even having to come back in the other game they won after blowing the lead. However, there's still a chance for crown winner Krikkit to meat Brigadoon in the finals. Good luck boys. |

Hooterville had a successful season in sporting a 95-67 record.
In any normal season this would be good enough to win a division however, not this year. Last year, Hooterville lost the Rookie Level Series Championship against a whale of a team, the Bulman Bulldogs. The baseball gods did Hooterville no favors this year by placing both Hooterville and Bulman in the same Stone League division. Hooterville started off good and was neck and neck with Bulman for the first 1.5 months of the young season however, Bulman ultimately started to flex their muscle and they easily pulled away from all other division opponents which helped them to win the division by 20 games. Hooterville qualified for the Wildcard game and faced some superior pitching and ended up losing to the St. Cloud Riverdogs 10-4 If nothing crazy happens, Hooterville should be promoted to Iron for the start of the next season. -30- |

little housekeeping PSA....
make sure you check your friend's list and perhaps do a general "-OL|- OL" username search to make sure you have everyone friended for next season. This is especially important for anyone in the Rookie level as the Cochise County Sidewinders will be joining you next season, so make sure you have them tagged as a friend. |

The Krikkit War Robots came up short in Stone.165's NC Championship series against a whale of team, the Bulman Bulldogs. The loss dashes the hope of an all-Our League championship series against the Highlanders.
Good luck Highlanders! |

For those that may be interested it didn't take someone long to collect 30 out of the 50 Negro player cards in order to get the 100 rated Kansas City Monarchs Jackie Robinson card.
Starting bid is 20,000 PP I can't even imagine how high that card will go for nor can I guess how much PP it took to collect it as a reward!

Yes, please check your list
Especially if you're in rookie. If we can get Cochise County, user adion in, there might be enough games scheduled to put up another rookie crown, giving us four crowns next season. Also, I believe we are at thirty teams, so it seems the friends list goes a little beyond 30 this year, since I still have room on my page 2. Be nice if the lines were numbered.
Oh and somebody wake up Magus. He'll have OL company next week. |

So, after I decided to give up on collections and sold all my live 60+ cards...
I read a few posts and... Decided to go after collections after all. D'Oh! Here's what I learned. So I needed a (new) strategy. But first, I needed a mind shift. That 71 Silver card going for 900pp isn't overvalued by 800pp. It is valued at exactly what it is worth on the open market. Like anything, a card's value is what two independant parties are willing to trade it for. So I had to release the anchor of that 100pp base value and accept what the market was telling me. So, the strategy. Pretty simple, one, I'd be willing to pay 10% over the card's 7-day average. And two, I'd target complete divisions to get the all division card. First up, the American League West. Of the 130 cards needed, I had 25 Iron cards. The remaining cards had a max price I'd pay of 23,553pp. The 7-day average of the reward cards was 65,760pp. And that's not counting that I'd be 1/3 the way to the 99 Yaz. To bring this home, I started buying an Wednesday and finished up on Saturday. I only went over my max on the last card needed for the Astros, Yuli Gurriel. His max was 941, but I used a buy now for 1000. Overall, I spent 19,714pp (83% off Max) to complete the AL West. Expect to see some new faces on the War Robots come Monday! Now I'm torn on which way to go next. Stick with the AL to finish off the league. The Central has some has ptichers. Or shift to the NL West, which has some mighty tasty looking reward cards. Oh, I didn't want to, but I decided to see how badly my selling hurt me. And surprisingly, not at all (at least for this division)! Of the 21 AL West cards I sold, I bought back 15. I sold those 15 for 2,187pp and paid 1,582pp to reacquire. I actually made a profit! Crazy! |

Great story. It almost tempts me to jump back in again, but if you read any of my Eddie Plank tale, you know I let my heart get in the way. And just recently, I saved up a good bit of money for Port Ruppert, saw a 1955 Mantle and there went the budget. Well, at least I have not resorted to pack buying. Been fairly diligent about getting my teams into tournaments, and they throw packs often enough to remind me that it's folly to pack chase with the money you're saving for AH. And sometimes, they hit pretty good. My silver team (I have my teams broken into iron, bronze and silver focused to keep the live cards minimal) sometimes has really nice streaks. From Saturday afternoon until the last I entered at about 10 p.m., I checked in this morning, after the donut making, and had ten packs to rip. That team, the Asylum Keepers, which had been having the best pack luck, failed miserably, pulling one 1400 gold live to sell, not a single silver, maybe 10 bronze, only four OL (two of which were dubs), so I didn't make a bundle on it. But it did give me another reminder not spend earned money on them. Again thanks for the great story. Those of you reading this drivel know who to blame for inspiring it. |

Congrats to all the winners, and my sympathies to all the losers.
![]() Annandale dropped the WC game as expected, but at least it was close. Brigadoon lost in the Semis, and you can't be too upset at that. I have been really digging into upgrades for Brigadoon and we'll see a few new faces on the field this year, including two new starting pitchers, a new starting shortstop and a whole new outfield. I am torn at replacing Tony Fernandez at short (he's hit decently and that plus his defense means he generates a well above average WAR). But the numbers don't lie so out he goes! Annandale has retooled their infield to add more hitting while only losing a bit of defense. It's been interesting so far - even though my team focuses on defense, I've not seen any defensive awards. I'm telling myself it's because of all those whales in the league! Yeah that's the ticket! I've also been trying to upgrade CF to replace Vic Davalillo but I first was affected by a lack of funds, and then by the outrageous prices asked for good defensive centerfielders. Even more infuriating was an auction I was monitoring that had an end date of 24 hours in the future - I was waiting to bid on it closer to when it ended (so I didn't tie up my funds for a long time) when the guy cancelled it with 24 hours left and restarted it on a 2 day timer (with the same bid/buyout price!). So I finally had to bite the bullet and put in a bid just to lock the card for sale. The influx of historical cards has shifted my focus so that I've been trolling the AH and ignoring missions for a few days. Good for you guys who are completing the missions though, as it's a fun activity. Last edited by Charlatan; 04-20-2020 at 07:39 AM. |

Iron and Bronze placements
Here's the setups for Iron 181 and Bronze 217:
In Iron, Brigadoon is going to be stuck behind the Bulman Bulldogs and in the mix with Port Ruppert and Vlora. So that looks to me like a tough division. Other than Bulman, I don't see any obviously stacked teams so looks like there should be some good competition in Iron this week. In Bronze, you know you're going to be in for a long season when the Kansas Rangers don't seem to be the most overpowered team in the league. This league has a number of similar teams, including a couple of the BFF teams. Judging from an inspection of the rosters, it looks like about half the teams in the league are stuffed to the gills with Diamonds and Perfects. So there should be some pretty good competition between them. And the rest of us will get eaten! My prediction is that Annandale finishes no higher than 4th in their division, as every other team in that division looks pretty good. I guess we'll still play all the games though! Coney Island made three moves in the off season. Adding Don Baylor, Bobby Murcer and Joe Nathan.
Nathan will take over the closer role from Jim Bibby who had a horrible September blowing 4 saves and coming into a tie game in the bottom of the ninth giving up a walk off HR on his first pitch. Baylor adds some flexibility in LF, backup at First and some time at DH. Overall boosting the depth of the club. I wanted a lefty bat in the OF to replace Mickey Rivers and Bobby Murcer was the first ballplayer I really loved as a kid so it was more a sentimental pick. He wasn't expensive as I used some of the proceeds from Rivers as well as Jody Davis to finance the move- and he can't be worse than his diamond card was PT20...... I was initially only going to do one team this year but with this quarantine I have just thrown a team (yet to be named) in the entry pool. Once I get it settled I will add them next Monday and provide you the details. Good luck to all this week. |

Stone league:
looks like everyone made it here (huzzah!). Checking the OL placement across the universe, only the newbies (Cochise County) didn't get placed in the right league, so everyone in the Rookie tier please check your settings and make sure you have them friended, and Cochise County double check that the 'use friend's list' is selected in the settings. |
