Yeah, I tend to have faith in people. And he's been on a tear this past week

Going up against Contreras will do that to a hitter.

5 straight two-out walks with 3 different pitchers. This is somewhat sad, no?

I actually find it pretty amusing.

Danks had a decent start, but the bullpen is...um...the bullpen. Dewon Day is just brutal - I'd actually rather see Nick Masset on the major league roster.
Check it out, we're only half a game up on Kansas City! |

Oh, wait, now we're tied with Kansas City!
Good stuff, too. Bases loaded, nobody out, top of the ninth. Jim Thome strikes out and Paul Konerko grounds into a game-ending double play. Even better, each of the Red Sox' 2 3-run homers were setup by a pair of Jon Garland walks! TJGKUTGW! |

You know, with Gavin Floyd starting, I was fully expecting a split going in to the nightcap last night.
Sure, Floyd stunk up the joint, but the bullpen held after that, and the Sox actually came back from a 6-run deficit to win. I honestly think this is the first time this year they've come back from a deficit of more than 3 and won. |

Tell you what, you don't win many games that way.
For those who missed it, of course... Podsednik on first. Josh Fields drops a bunt that Zach Miner bobbles and then throw way the heck out into right field, and Pods comes all the way around to score the game-winning run. Another good start for John Danks - 6.2 innings, 6 hits, 3 runs , 2 walks, 5 strikeouts. |

To be 22 and throw 100 innings of league average ball at the major league level is pretty solid. He was a better prospect than McCarthy. Jon Daniels should have known better.

Iguchi has been traded to the Phillies for an A-ball relief pitcher named Michael Dubee.
http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news...=.jsp&c_id=cws WTF, Kenny? According to reports, Danny Richar will get the call-up and make his MLB debut tomorrow. Last edited by eriqjaffe; 07-27-2007 at 07:10 PM. |

Starting tomorrow night, it'll be the beginning of the Danny Richar era. Richar's been killing AAA pitching - he's hit .345 for Charlotte, and .305 overall in the PCL this year with an aggregate .870 OPS. Don't know how good his glove it, but Iguchi wasn't showing much range at second base this year, so he's probably not going to hurt the Sox out there. A couple of commemorative Iguchi moments: Iguchi's 3-run blast off of David Wells in the ALDS His gravity-defying throw to retire one of the Molinas I'm gonna miss Gooch, he was one of my favorite players over the past couple years - apparently, when Ozzie broke the news to him, he burst out crying in the locker room. |

I can understand wanting to see what Richar can do and that the market for second basemen was soft but damn... some A-ball pitcher who has a nepotistic link to the Phillies?
Unbelievable. Way to blow that one, KW.

Maybe this is KW's way of apologizing for the Freddy Garcia trade.
Anyhoo, Jim from SoxMachine.com has some video footage of Danny Richar working an 0-2 count into a 14-pitch at-bat: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSmE7X4bkqY |

Dubee looks like an OK reliever from what I can see on MiLB.com - appears to be able to strike people out and keep the ball on the ground (54k/22bb, .248 OAVG, 1.62 GO/AO ratio), so maybe he'll be able to help out in a year or two. Probably can't be any worse than Andy Sisco. Also, a couple of congratulations are in order for the Pale Hose. Sox legend Billy Pierce had his concourse statue unveiled on the 24th. His statue joins ones for Charlie Comiskey, Minnie Minoso, Carlton Fisk, Nellie Fox and Luis Aparicio. Also, Mark and Jamie Buehrle's son Braden David was born on Thursday (the notice is toward the bottom of the article) - at least we can rest assured that Braden will be going to preschool around here! |
