THE CHRONICLE - VOLUME 34, ISSUE 2

OCTOBER 2, 1933: The collective exhale from St. Louis was audible across the country. Finally they managed to put all the pieces together and win themselves a pennant. Victor Ullberg came back from his injury a bit hobbled, but by the second half of the season he was able to turn it on and notch a 20 win season. Charlie Denton didn't win the batting title, but that was mainly due to an extraordinary season from Washington's Buddy Myers, not due to anything on Lazy's part. But the biggest news of all was the new bar that Mike Magruder set for homers as he barreled past Babe Ruth's record of 52 to post a titanic 61! Tied for 2nd far below were Mickey Cochrane and Heinie Manush with 25. Many are saying that this will be a record that may never be broken....but they said that with Ruth's 52 as well. If anyone can break that record, it may be "Ironman" himself.

From the start, it was apparent that the National League race would consist of two teams this season, the past two pennant winners: the Boston Braves and the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cards were hard pressed to duplicate last year's 111 wins, falling back by 19 games. Much of it was due to Josh Billings winning 15 less games than in 1933. Satchel Paige won 25, but even that was 8 games less than the year before. In the end, it was Boston's grit and the leadership of Lou Gehrig and John Kinsella that made the difference as they return to the big show after a year's absence.

PROSPECT WATCH, part 1

CHRIS "THE GRIMSBY LOCOMOTIVE" JOYCE
: Joyce entered his 23rd season on his last legs. He probably should have retired, but they don't call him the Locomotive for nothing.

JEFF "DOC" WATSON: Doc was surprisingly named starter after spring training and he held his own. He may come back next year, even though he'll be 40.

OSCAR "THE BLACK TY COBB" CHARLESTON: Oscar passed 3000 hits early on. A couple weeks later, he went out for 4 weeks with a herniated disc, but it didn't seem to affect him when he returned. If he sticks around for 2 more years, he should be a lock for 3500.

13 FRIGGIN' YEARS LOST!

If the guys running the servers are reading this, you're all a bunch of braindead amateurs.

I will probably start something from scratch now, being the masochist that I am. Maybe I'll get past 1950 before they screw up again.

Google cached some of your lost pages :

It may have cached more, but I don't have the time to look through all the hits.
I found those cached pages here:
http://www.google.com/search?q=allin...&sa=N&filter=0
Click on cached instead of the link for the cached page.

Good luck.

That's unfrickinbelieveable Pete...great dynasty you had here, its a shame this had to crash one year before my grandfather was to debut.

Thanks, man. Unfortunately I can only find up to 1937, which leaves 10 years still missing.

This is definitely on hold for now. I may start it back up, but for now I'm just gonna start something new.

Ugh, that's alot of missing years. It seems the Google caches I've found for you and others unfortunately only goes to mid August or so.
Considering that your dynasty was updated frequently, that's alot of lost time and effort.
I wish I could've helped you out more and I'm hoping this doesn't discourage you from your dynasty writeups, though I would understand if it did.

I completely understand, metsgeek. I hate to see it happen, though. Now I'll never know if John Kinsella would have had 3,000 hits. He's the only bona fide Hall of Fame candidate among the "ancestors" I've created for leagues like yours.

Oh, well, if you start another league like this, I'll bring the Grimsby Locomotive back out of the yard, have Kinsella walk back out of the cornfield, and wait for my dad to make his debut in the late 40s.

In a case such as this, I'd be inclined to skip re-writing the 10 years that were lost. I don't think anybody would complain if you just continued from 1948(?) without worrying about the lost decade. Write it off as a fire at the CBC main office having destroyed that part of the history books.

On a related note, I'm shocked that OOTP doesn't run backups more frequently than, apparantly, once every second month.
