knuckler, you may have to just pick nicknames that just sound good for these three towns... I searched their histories and not much happened in them... none of them have much history in pro sports.
BANGOR BANGERS... as in 'bang the baseball"... I just like the sound of it... incidentally "Bangor" is not pronounced "Banger"... it's "Bang-Gore". BANGOR LUMBER BARONS... in the 1800s the town was huge in lumber... even spread the industry to the Northwest in Washington and Oregon... in the 1900s it was centered on the paper industry BANGOR BARONS BANGOR BLUE OXEN... this is a stretch... Paul Bunyan is the hero of the lumberjacks... and he has a statue in Bangor... he had a blue ox named Babe. BANGOR LUMBERJACKS... lumber and paper industries. BANGOR BROWNIES... the pastry was invented in Bangor and called "Bangor Brownies"... teams colors, of course, would be dark brown. LEWISTON-AUBURN TWINS... known as the Twin Cities...it's called "LA" by the natives. LEWISTON-AUBURN SNEAKERS... strong shoe industry 1850 to 1960... known for canvas shoes in the 1900s... supplied 75% of them worldwide... LEWISTON-AUBURN CORDONNIERS (COBBLERS OR SHOEMAKERS)... strong French Canadian heritage and population... immigrants from Quebec came in good numbers to work in the shoe mills. PORTSMOUTH PRIVATEERS... shippers were pirates in the War of 1812. PORTSMOUTH BUCCANEERS Last edited by Eugene Church; 03-12-2015 at 02:35 PM. |

What are the parameters of your high school league? Is it national or localized? Let me know and I will work on a logo for you.
Tex, really nice Angels set - it takes me back to the beginning of this thread. I especially like the blue jersey with the monogram. |

Haha, I appreciate that. It's fine as-is. I found two logos that fit my HS leagues fine, so it's cool. I use that league as a clearing house for all of the jerseys/logos i want to use but can't elsewhere. Haha..

Hey Knuckler, could I get the "Est 2060" removed from this logo if it is not to much of a hassle? Thanks for all you do.

knuckler: This was a tough set of cities... all the New England towns are based on manufacturing, textiles and shipping.
First I tried to get a "localized" nickname... but then resorted to just picking out something that sounded good and would make a good logo and jersey. PITTSFIELD ELECTRICS... home of General Electric. PITTSFIELD POETS... this one is not a great nickname... but Henry Wadsworth Longfellow lived there... wrote "Paul Revere's Ride" and "The Song of Hiawatha". PITTSFIELD MIDNIGHT RIDERS... reference to Paul Revere's midnight ride... they could play Allman Brothers' great "Midnight Rider" at games. PITTSFIELD LEGENDS... GE and Longfellow are "Legends". PITTSFIELD BRAVES.. Indian-related because of Hiawatha. PITTSFIELD TOMAHAWKS... Indian-related. PITTSFIELD WARRIORS... Indian-related. PITTSFIELD PHANTOMS... just like the sound of it and it would make a good logo. PITTSFIELD PRIDE... I never use singular nouns as nickname... but I like this because people "take pride in their city"... it sounds good, too. PITTSFIELD PIRATES... what the heck... it's a great logo... sounds good... and make you think of the Pittsburgh Pirates. STAMFORD TYCOONS... huge financial district... second to New York City in US... city not known for much else... has no pro teams to speak of. STAMFORD SCORPIONS... makes a good logo and sounds good. STAMFORD SWINGERS... double-entente (hitters and cool people)... sound good and would make a good logo with batter swinging the bat. STAMFORD SLAMMERS... sounds good... makes a good logo with player swinging the bat. STAMFORD SLUGGERS... ditto. STAMFORD STINGERS... ditto... use a bee swinging the bat... the bee "could really sting (hit) the ball."... yeah, I know... it's a stretch. LOWELL COTTON KINGS... great textile city... one of the biggest in its time... it was the main importer of Southern States' cotton... city not known for much else. LOWELL LASERS... high-tech industry LOWELL CYBERCATS... high-tech industry Last edited by Eugene Church; 03-14-2015 at 10:55 AM. |

So I nuked my Birmingham team because it was too close to my new Atlanta team and the Jackson Cottons I borrowed from this thread.
I created a new 4th NY team after Brooklyn lost theirs but rather than putting them in Brooklyn, they're actually in Yonkers. Right now, I'm just matching the New York Giants cap or the one you made for the Titans with an Orioles uniform because it basically works. Was wondering if I could get a NY style cap like that which only has the Y on it for Yonkers. Or Y O cap for Yonkers Orioles even though they go by New York. |

Wwines, I am sorry I didn't get to the logo sooner, but many thanks to DC for taking care of it for you. It's never any trouble to edit logos for you, so please don't hesitate to ask me.

knuckler, it's getting tough to get nicknames... hope you can use some of these... it's OK if you don't like any of my suggestions... nicknames are a personal thing... it's like when you make a beautiful logo for me and for some reason I didn't like it.
Fall River... known only for textile industry... Lizzie Borden murders... little else. FALL RIVER FALCONS... sounds good and would make a good logo. FALL RIVER BATTLESHIPS... Battleship Cove... largest collection of historic naval ship exhibit in US. FALL RIVER RUFFIANS... like the alliteration... may make a good logo. FALL RIVER ROGUES... ditto. FALL RIVER RENEGADES... ditto. Salem is famous for being the Witch City (witch trials in 1692)... more importantly, it was great seaport... I chose not to use the witch image for a baseball nickname... though the high school uses the nickname "Witches"... birthplace of the National Guard in 1637. SALEM SHIPPERS... significant seaport in early America... also big in international shipping to Europe, Asia and South American. SALEM SAILORS SALEM SCHOONERS SALEM PRIVATEERS... center for privateering in Revolutionary War... the privateers captured or sunk 600 British vessels. SALEM BUCCANEERS SALEM PIRATES SALEM SALVOS... discharge of artillery or bombs... another name for a home run in baseball. SALEM SCARLETS... hometown boy Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote "The Scarlet Letter" in Salem. Nashua... like most towns in New England it was a textile center with abundant water power (1830 to 1950)... Nashua River and Merrimack River run through the town... high tech industry (floppy discs) came in 1970's (Hewlett-Packard and Oracle Corporation)... as farm team for Brooklyn Dodgers, the Nashua Dodgers were believed to be the first pro team with a racially-integrated roster... Roy Campanella and Don Newcombe were the first two black players to play in Nashua... 1946 was the first year... the team folded in 1949. Sorry, knuckler... I just could find any good nicknames for Nashua... I went through all the sports nicknames, college and pro... and baseball terminology... and didn't find a lot... the letter "N" has very few good nicknames. NASHUA KNUCKLERS... as in "knuckleball"... could also apply to a great OOTPB graphics designer. NASHUA DIRT DOGS... refer to a scrappy baseball player who gets his uniform dirty. NASHUA STICKLERS... baseball bat is referred to as a "stick"... high-tech people are probably very precise and a "stickler" for accuracy. NASHUA ANDROIDS... high-tech industry... "robot"... an operating system. NASHUA AVATARS... high-tech industry. NASHUA EXCELS... high-tech term. NASHUA GNUS... high-tech term... operating system... also a gnu is an African antelope. NASHUA YAHOOS... high-tech search engine... also "local yokels" NASHUA RAMS... high-tech term... also a horny animal. Last edited by Eugene Church; 03-16-2015 at 09:49 PM. |
