Colored Baseball League 1920

Been working on a fictional league for OOTP15 for the negro league teams starting in 1920... It includes the Negro National League, the Eastern Colored League and the Negro Southern League... Below you will find a link to my Photobucket where all of the unis, logos and ballparks can be found... Also a link to the thread where you can get a description and download the league file if you want to install and play it... Thanks to Knuckler for his work on some of the logos, Questdog for his Names mod and Cooley for the schedule...

knuckler, here are more suggestions for team nicknames in your New England League:.. they are based on the locale.

Waterbury Brass... known as "Brass City"... at one time in the 1800s it was the "Brass Capitol of the World"... manufactured brass for U. S. nickles... and South American money... 10,000 people were employed in WW II... it might be a stretch to use musical instruments as the logo.
Waterbury Tick Tocks... ... also famous for watch making... at one time they made 20,000 watches a day... a baseball image with time markers on it as if it was a clock might be a good start for a logo.

Manchester Industrials... city was planned to emulate the great English manufacturing industry in its namesake city of Manchester, England... famous for textile mills on the Merrimack River, which splits the town... also manufactured locomotives.
Manchester Locomotives
Manchester Locos
... this could signify both a train engine and also "Crazies" from the Spanish word "loco"... included below is a Loco logo showing a "crazy" locomotive.
Manchester Merrimacks... for the river that splits the city in half... source of power for textile mills.

Danbury Hatters or Mad Hatters... known as the "Hat City"... in 1904 made 25% of the hats in the U. S.
Danbury Derbies... for derby hats.
Danbury Continentals... it was an important supply depot during the Revolutionaly War.
Danbury Dingers... just sounds good and it's a good ballball term.

Bennington (VT) Patriots/New England league/Green Mountain State League

I went away from the more traditional Patriot/Colonial style logos for this one and went with a Gadsden Flag/13 star motif. I settled on Patriots as a name because of the Battle of Bennington.

Hey knuckler!

Here are the four teams that still need real life minor league affiliates in my replay that I need uni sets for. As always, they are listed below, along with the teams i have chosen to be their affiliates for the decade.

Boston Red Sox
AAA: Toronto Maple Leafs
AA: Pittsfield Red Sox
A: Waterloo Red Sox

Atlanta Braves
AAA: Richmond Braves (60s era)
AA: Austin Braves
A: West Palm Beach Braves

Chicago Cubs
AAA: Salt Lake City Bees
AA: Dallas-Fort Worth Spurs
A: St. Cloud Rox

Philadelphia Phillies
AAA: Eugene Emeralds
AA: Reading Phillies (60s era)
A: Spartanburg Phillies

As always, specs are the same as before.

While I'm at it, I'll respond to this post that darkcloud4579 wrote last month:

Quote:
You can find everyone of those in the forums. With cap and everything. In some cases, you'd match say a "S" or "T" cap with a home "Giants" jersey.

The Jets are in this thread, as are Dodgers (multiple), Indians and others. Generally, major league team nicknames are super easy to find and you're never the first person to have wanted them or to find them.

I don't want to be that guy but let this be a deterrent to others. I once ran a league for a bunch of years in OOTP and at a certain point, what seems like fun to you becomes a labor and a chore. When people are donating their time and contributing to the community, we all have to be respectful and mindful of what we're asking of them and ultimately, not to be too greedy.

The other thing is, I know I've contributed a lot to the OOTP community over the years on beta for probably 7 or 8 years and in mods that have received thousands of downloads over the past few years too. So I feel less bad asking occasionally, knowing that I'm always around the contribute, answer questions and help others enjoy the game as much I have over the years.

But it can't be a one-sided thing, especially when you're making horrifically large requests that show a kind of tone deafness that is really just disrespectful to the people who come here and lend their talent FOR FREE.

You know how many times I've wanted to send knuck and tx a PM to say "look, I know I'm asking for a lot. Can I pay you for your time?" I don't do it, because I don't want to turn what's fun into work, but that's the kind of thought I know that I -- and surely others -- put into asking for stuff on this thread and others.

They're grown men and can do whatever the hell they want. I just felt the need to speak up because it really really bugs me when people show up throwing around demand of people who are sometimes just too nice to say something and who want to be good partners to the community and truly enjoy what they're doing.

But let this be a reminder to all of us that we have to take care of each other, because we're all human and many of us come here to escape and enjoy a game that's been good to us for a long time. Let's not abuse that.
First off, I acknowledge that I do request teams that may be available elsewhere on the forums. However I enjoy what knuckler and txranger do and like to have their creations in my game. Also, it is very time consuming to make jerseys of my own (which I have done btw), and I believe everyone deserves a break at some point.

Secondly, I don't, and I repeat DON'T, aim to disrespect either knuckler or txranger by making requests such as the one I made above. As I mentioned in the previous paragraph, their work is very aesthetically pleasing and I love to have it in my game. Also, I DO understand that I'm working with humans, because I am one as well (in case you didn't know).

Also, the requests I make aren't "horrifically large" as you mention. Count all the teams that I just requested above. 12 teams. Just imagine if I requested all the real life minor league teams I've added to my league during the 60s. That would be 60 teams! Now THAT is horrifically large.

I do not intend to boss anyone around. I sincerely love the game and having immersion in my game is very important to me. So I'm bound to make requests like that. That's just the way I am.

I know I probably should have put this in another post, but I've wanted to respond to that post since it was made. I'm glad I finally got that off my chest.

If making jerseys and logo's is so time consuming that you cant do it why would you request twelve at a time, and this is not your first time requesting this many. I believe Tx and Knuckler deserve a break also.

Also a Please and Thank You and possibly a "at your convenience " or "take your time" may go a long way too.

Tx and Knuckler bring so much to this game for so many of us, I would hate for them to see what they do as becoming a chore or an inconvenience and stop doing it.

Just my 2 cents.

I definitely agree with this. Most of my leagues are filled with sets that Knuckler and Txranger did. It would be a shame if the greediness of the community forced them to stop.

To Skyballer, You are right that Tex and knuckler do great work, and even though you would rather have their versions versus what is already available, you need to compromise sometimes. Please don't abuse the request.

If my count is correct and I believe it is, the total number of teams you have requested so far is 30... Maybe in your mind that is not "horrifically large", but in mine it is... Size is in the eye of the beholder or in this case the maker... Especially when you multiply the number of teams times the actual number of items that must be created for each team... One or two ballcaps, two jerseys and one logo per team...That's four to five items per team times 30 teams... You do the math, imo that's asking a lot... Where does it end... Your league is in the 60's and will continue for how many years to come? Should we continue to make these sets from now to eternity? That is up to the individual who is offering his time and his skills to make these...

No problem. In case you need a jersey and cap to go with the Outlaws jersey that Tex already finished with the original request:
