Null error

OK, I figured out the fix (dumb), but I will leave the post for anyone else with the same problem. I had left the Min fields to blank. I put in zeros and the problem went away.

This is a great tool. I was able to create all the faces the first pass. My problem is in updating. I remove and replace the CSV files (semicolon delimited), quit ootp, load-up facetool (I change the start in directory).

If I do the universe at a time option I get the error "Couldn't convert variant of type (null) into type (integer). If I do the team at a time option or player at a time it works fine and updates the pictures. Needless to say, this approach is a bit tedious. Any thoughts?

If you're using 1.0.3. you might need to go into the OOTP Options page and make sure that the CSV dump uses semicolons instead of commas to separate the fields. That's just a wild guess, though.

Doh, I can't believe I was too dumb to do that. I spent hours on Saturday doing one team at a time.

Are you talking about the minimum PA and IP fields? I've never left them blank. I've put zeros, ones, and some other numbers in there. Still doesn't work (for me).

NEW TEMPLATE AVAILABLE ON www.OOTPModSquad.com

I have attached the contents of the Readme file.

The download has the wrong Readme file. This is the correct instructions.

Deft's Player Picture Photoshop Templates for OOTPFaceTool

None of these files are supported, connected to Photoshop or OOTP, or for sale so use at your own risk I recommend purchasing FaceGen 3.0 but this will work with the demo.

Instructions:
create a team template:
1) Using a layer supported graphics program (GIMP, Photoshop,etc..), open a jersey_buttoned or jersey_buttonless file and select the layer you like best
2) Do the same for the undershirt, cap, and bill as well as whatever accessories (sleeves,stripes,etc..) you want.
3) Make sure the order of the layers is correct after duplicating them into one file.
3) Save as a .png file
4) Once saved use this file in the custom uniform option in the FaceTool

Good luck,
Deft

Are there elements missing in the new template? I don't see a bill underside for the cap, and it seems like the options for the buttonless jersey are very limited. Are these items supposed to be there, or is this deliberate?

bill underside is now a separate file. It is in the download and should have replaced your orginial bill_underside.png file if you downloaded it to your Facetool directory. If not, just replace it.

You can use all of the stripes and sleeves in the buttoned jersey set with the buttonless jersey.

This might be a league you created in an earlier OOTP version. Try making a test league.

This is the same problem I've been whining about in this thread. Are you not able to use FACETOOL if you transferred a league over from OOTP6.5? What a shame. There's got to be a way around it.

that is definitely NOT true - the only league I have used facetool on is a 6.5 import - it works absolutely great.

Deft, thanks for the reply. I've run into another problem, though. It seems that some of the new chest stripes have a strange blend of colors, and they don't work well against any jersey color other than white. The stripes do not have a consistent look and there seem to be patches of differing colors throughout, especially on the Stripe_Style1_L. Is there a way that this can be improved or fixed? This striping is critical to a number of jerseys that I've been working on, and the new design would be a huge improvement over the last template. It's just that the colors don't work out in the end.

I already have color overlays for some of the layers (Stripe_Style1_L for one) so you can just change the existing color overlay. If the color overlay does not work for the program your using then I can change it to white and create another one.

I have a situation I need help with. Just did a csv dume and by the way the program works great. Loaded the league and then created my 1978 year photos. Went to Dodgers and there is a player named Myron White after creating the photo he is wearing a Giant Uniform and when I wen t back to the Face Tool and did a player search it says he does not exist. where do I fine his photo to change and whey is he wearing a Gaint uni when he plays for the Dodgers

I'm using Photoshop CS2. The issue seems to be with the underlying paint squares and not with the color overlays. Applying the color overlays simlpy duplicates the same basic layout of paint squares, only applied to a different color range. So I get the same inconsistency of color regardless of which overlay I use.

I did some manual touch-ups and came up with an alternative version that worked okay for now, but if you think that you could create another one that would make the underlying paint squares a bit more uniform and similar in color, to make the overall striping look more consistent, that would be great. But don't go too far out of your way, as I at least have a working alternative at the moment.

Nice program. I've tried everything to get it to work but can't. It won't load my tables so it won't load the league. However, I can use the custom uniform feature to assign and preview unis, but that's about it. Errors all over the place after that.

I've seen and tried all of the suggestions on here but nothing works. Oh well, at least I was able to make some very nice custom uniforms even if I eventually have to implement them manually.

Sugestions welcome. Anyway, I'm going to try and download it again and see if perhaps my first download was currupted.

Did you redo the csv dump, and load the league in Face Tool?

Not sure that re-doing the dump is neccessary but I forgot to reload the league file a couple of times.

I went and deleted all the photos that the program created and then reloaded the league, went and hit the create button and 0 pics were created. It was the only anomoly and there was one player where no photo was created. That again is fine with me

Don't give up on it, man. Take from someone who has had many troubles with it only to later get custom uni's for every team in his league working beautiful. It's worth it.

Unfortunately, I never knew what my problems were and never knew how they got fixed, so I can't help you anymore than to encourage you (and others) to keep giving it a chance.
