Less than 48 hours to vote. There are still 10 owners that have not voted.

A poll was posted for a change in how the teams are seeded in the playoffs concerning wildcard teams.

The current rule for the playoffs, the division winners get seeds 1,2,3 and the wildcard is seeded 4 regardless of points total. Home venue goes to the division winner with the most points. Wildcard entry will not have any home venue advantage throughout the playoffs. The championship match is held at a neutral site with no home venue advantage for either team.

#1 faces #4 (wildcard)
#2 faces #3

The proposal you will be voting on

Amendment to the current playoff system.

The only exception would be if #1 seed and the wildcard are from the same division. The wildcard should never face its divison leader in the first round of the playoffs. If this happens, seeding for the playoffs would be as follows.....

#1 faces #3
#2 faces #4 (wildcard)

Use the link below and it will direct you to the poll.
Amendment to the UTBA Playoff rules

I've liked Griffo, but 11 cap points for a fighter that only rarely produces a 5 point match just isn't cutting it anymore.

I should get more production next year from Torpedo Murphy and the player to be named later than I get from the Griffo-stiff combination.

Mark your calendars.

For right now, I'm setting May 12, 2007 as the draft date. This could change as the date approaches(my schedule could change by then).

I was actually going to suggest a bit of a hiatus after this season, simply for your benefit, Sal. I'm always amazed at the amount of work you put into this league. It's something I would not be able to do and I was thinking that it might be a good idea if, after season four, you would be able to take some time off and actually have an "off-season" from it. It's entirely up to you, of course. It's your baby so if you're happy to keep on going, that's cool.

Thanks k_c.
I want to get the draft over and get the new expansion team set as quick as possible. After that, I was planning a little time off as you suggested and then running each game week over a 2 week period for awhile.

Thats understandable, the lack of power is what prevented me from pulling the trigger on that huge trade we talked about last season. Well, that and the fact that I didn't want to let go of Rosario.

Yeah, you can be sure that regardless of who you pick up they'll be better then Jesus Meneses who has staked a very strong claim as the worse active fighter in the UTBA.

Dude, take as much of a break as you want I know no one will mind at all as we all know that you put alot of work into the UTBA.

My opinion - for what little it's worth - is that Bowker and Revie were the two best value picks in the free agent pool.

I had my eye on Bowker and Revie for a few weeks - Revie would have been rostered if I'd been at all disatisfied with my FW's. I'd have rostered Bowker a week or two ago if I couldda found room for him.

It makes me feel all the more happy about picking them up hearing that, Matt. Your team is the standard of excellence everyone else in the UTBA is striving to reach, so knowing how you feel about those two fighters gives me a lot of satisfaction having signed them.

Thanks,

I figured I'm a team in need of a fighter or two, maybe three who is able to win almost every week. It's not about the 3 points for an expansion team, it's just the question of getting some wins under our belt and try not to end death last. Of course i'll be picking more power in the Expansion draft, but Griffo will be a pivotal part of my Southpaws.

No waiver claims to report in the 4th round.

The waiver wire is now closed. Week 8 will start in less than 24 hours. Just got home from another night of softball in the freezing temps. I may get a couple of early matches in if I ever warm up tonight before I'm off to bed.

Good luck to all the teams that are in the playoff hunt.

Edit:
As you can see, I didn't make it last night.

Edit again:
I'm not AWOL, just had unexpected company find their way to my house tonight. Life is starting to get in the way of boxing. Hate when that happens.

No Sweat Scot.

I have Wyatt's first Little League practice this afternoon. I have the whole two hours laid out with timed drills but I need 4 assistants and currently have none. I have been blessed with an apathetic batch of parents this year.

Should be interesting.

Just a quick note.

The wilcard amendment proposal for seeding in the playoffs passed.

There have been 3 rule changes during this season and the rules on the first page have been updated to reflect those changes.

1) Aging adjustment for fighters reaching post-prime and end.

2) New waiver schedule with 4 rounds and the cap being lifted during that time.

3) New seeding format for wilcard teams in the playoffs if they happen to be matched up against the team from their own divsion in the first round.

LOL, know that feeling too well.....The sad part is it never gets better. There have been kids that have played four years for us at the High School I Coach at whose Parents I have never seen.....

And we give them plenty of opportunities to be involved. A yearly end of Season banquet, a Yearly Parent meeting and a pre Season family Barbeque at our program scrimmage. Nothing sadder than seeing a Kid get recognized on Senior Night accompanied by a Coach.

It ended up better than I expected. Three fathers stepped up to help afterall which was a big relief. I am very organized, focus on teaching basics and give explicit roles for each adult assistant. I think that once they saw helping would actually require very little effort on their part they decided to join in.

Well,at least my guys were somewhat competitive with the Big Bad Beavers..LOL. Shavers lost two,but Tucker won both..so,we split the heavies Matt. I had a couple of guys to advance in experience,so I think things may be finally looking up for Left Jab Inc. One or two changes is all that I intend to make for next season. HUGE UPSET: Can you guys believe that Mickey Walker beat Brent Cooper??? Wow,thought for sure Coop would take that one..LOL. Take care guys and enjoy the weekend.
