Given those population projections -- which obviously won't be accurate, but whatever -- I moved the Philadelphia Apostles to Atlanta where they stayed the Apostles, since there was no ABA team there and the Apostles didn't have the impact on Philly I was hoping for when they showed up.
Also the Chicago Blue Collars are going back to Toronto. That whole population thing really helped me figure out how to balance out the league some. A lot of teams aren't moving because 1) I like their look and 2) their location or whatever, but...in the case of a Toronto where they'd been there already and they're not having a lot of success anyway, seems like a solid move. I just demoted the Vodacom League formerly the CPBL to an International League. Those teams are never, ever going to become part of my major league setup in the ABA, so I just didn't see the point anymore. Guys can still get paid to play over there, no problem, I just don't want to have to consider those stats in trying to figure out whether a guy is a Hall of Famer or not, when the talent level is surely a step below what we have in the other three major leagues.

![]() A misnomer since this team plays all over the Great Plains -- Omaha, North Dakota St. Louis & Kansas City got a team again (out of the ABA), there. But team offices are always based there so it doesn't matter. +------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | GREAT PLAINS FLYCATCHERS (BASED IN OMAHA SINCE 2044) | +------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIPS: [36] 2045, 2046, 2047, 2049, 2051, 2052, 2053, 2054, 2055, 2057, 2058, 2060, 2061, 2062, 2065, 2066, 2069, 2070, 2075, 2078, 2079, 2080, 2081, 2088, 2090, 2091, 2098, 2099, 2100, 2103, 2104, 2105, 2106, 2109, 2113, 2116 (Franchise also won 4 division titles in Savannah but are not counted or recognized by this franchise) LEAGUE PENNANTS: (17) (NL) 2047, 2051, 2052, 2053, 2054, 2055, 2056, 2066, 2075, 2089, 2091, 2099 (AL) 2104, 2106, 2107, 2109, 2116 DAYLIGHT SERIES TITLES: (10) 2053, 2054, 2055, 2056, 2066, 2075, 2089, 2091, 2109, 2116 | Obviously the most successful expansion franchise on the planet. They were good out of the chute and I had nothing to do with it. Savannah was a really good team that never won a title but the market was too small and the team had to be relocated, but to make them the "team of the midwest" they had to be successful and so, that's what their owners set out to do with them and they did so with aplomb. For a team that's less than 100 years old, they have a lot of retired numbers (11) already. It's a safe bet that they'll always reload. I've seen nothing like it, but the game always finds a way for them to win. REAL LIFE TEAMS THE FLYCATCHERS REMIND ME OF: If the Green Bay Packers, St. Louis Cardinals & Kansas City Royals had a fake baseball lovechild that no one knew who the daddy was and so they all raised it together? It'd be the Flycatchers. Their fan base is vast, rabid and unapologetic. They talk a lot about the team like they are members of the family, everyone has a story about a time they saw a member of the Flycatchers in their hometown or how their cousin knows a guy on the team who is friends with the trainer and so he works on the arm of [insert whoever stars is on the team] and yeah.... It's hilarious and awesome. |

Not ruling out the Wildboars idea someday. Just not doing it with the San Diego team probably.

I updated on the first post of the dynasty, the list of human players. Going to go ahead and update all of them now.
Code:
OF Shovel Bryant (Ramzavail) OF Jack Donovan Jr. (jdono927) OF Joshua Rohatyn III (laptophound) SS Tom Brennan (Rurik) SS Carlos Martinez (baseballonly) OF Dylan Ortega (captaincoop17) 2B Ken Ramos (heshinymew64) SP Alex Kapranos (deandean1998) OF Joe Peters IV (jpeters1734) IF Steve Kuffrey (Steve Kuffrey) 2B Paul Scott (baseballonly) OF Silas Delaney II (Eugene Church) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Ken Ramos won 3 Gold Gloves in the ABA) ![]() Shovel Bryant was an all-star in his rookie season. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sidenote: I cut the modifier for financial coefficient in half from .500 to .250, so salaries all got dropped by 50% so don't be alarmed. I was kind of tired of them being so high. |

To keep this cleaner, we'll just use this dynasty to record your players. I'll setup a separate dynasty now to explain the history and start going on with my new team if that's what I wanna do.
So this will resume being for reporting on the generations of guys who we insert into the game. |

![]() San Diego Skippers moved to Austin, TX to become the Texas Bullets. Bullet is a squirrel. But then again...I saw this Smokies uniform and debated instead going with the Texas Smokies.

I brought the ABA back to 36 teams after demoting the Vodacom League to International.
Promoted the Hawaii 59ers and Thunder Bay Loggers from the NABL Created expansion teams and transferred the active contracts of two contracted UPB teams to Orlando Wizards and Phoenix Suns. So those are the four new teams. Not really expansion in the traditional sense, so I don't feel like it ought to erode talent matters. For postseason issues, I debated with this but we're back to 16 teams again out of 36. I feel like the story here is, the ABA needed to stay relevant and only having a few teams in the postseason wasn't working. Plus we went to 12 last year, so going to 16 wasn't really a big jump. Also it's not half the league, so it doesn't matter. Lastly, while I had some misgivings about teams losing in the postseason on flukes, historically we didn't get many (any?) teams who were really bad winning titles. So you had to go to the distance anyway. The regular season is just about getting a lotto ticket and the postseason is effectively a new season rather than viewing it as determining who the best regular season team is/was. It's a change in philosophy, but I think it's good for the league especially since most of the schisms in the past were about teams not having a legitimate shot at the postseason. It's 2117 this season |

I like the Phoenix Suns, but I like the Boise Cutthroats more. It's an area where we had no team, I can't honestly see Arizona supporting two baseball teams so close to each other even if in different leagues and so, we're gonna move the phoenix suns to Boise retroactive the start of this season.

Nicholas Hunter added to the college league on Michigan State. We'll see him down the road.

What I *wish* we had--and there is NO reason for this to ever get coded in--would be "only teams over .500 enter playoffs" with automatic byes. Or failing that, make it a bit easier to manually schedule playoff teams. But I think you're on the right track. a) It's fun to see more teams in the playoffs and b) it's more money for owners, who like that sort of thing. |

I'm like you on the conditional playoffs thing, I've done that in the past. I stopped editing playoffs manually because it was screwing up the schedules for future years -- probably not for series, but I've just been skittish as a result.
And I'm like you, no under .500 teams in the postseason, but since none of them have ever won a pennant, I'm a bit less annoyed by them. |

And yeah, I'm not touching end-of-season playoffs. I am, however, thinking of trying to put a 6 day break in the middle, instead of an all-star game, and matching up the top teams for a knockout tourney, 1 game each. |

Doing a 25 round free agent draft in the ABA. So we'll know the best 25 players -- or something -- end up there. Then we'll leave everyone else out there to basically be cannibalized by whoever is trying to fill spots. Since I'm always trying to figure out what to do with myself in this league - 300 years is a long time - I'm going to take over a team in the free agent draft and participate drafting the entire squad.
The goal then will be to build the best team I can to win a championship right out of the gate. I'm going to have to select a team that has a history of not winning titles -- so not an expansion team or something -- but an older franchise or a legacy franchise or just one that's been around a while that I can take over, we'll discuss their history and stuff and then we'll draft to put the best core into place we can, sign free agents around them and then go from there. The deal for Year 1 is, whoever I draft is who we have to stick with, no make deals from draft players because I think what happens with my teams/leagues a lot is questionable trades or whatever because I care more about the storyline. There won't be a farm system to speak of, initially, because we're drafting to win this year. Last edited by darkcloud4579; 02-13-2015 at 07:44 PM. |

Doing the whole 2119 season from the eyes of a fantasy baseball aspiring mogul. It'll involve players obviously and so, your guys will be part of it in case you wanted to follow along as the year progresses.

Took 320 years but finally all of the teams in the main league (ABA) have their own stadiums. I'd been slowly switching from the standardized stadium for everyone (1.000) to distinct ones. Along with injuries, those are the two most dramatic changes in the history of this league.
Will be interested to see how big a change it is long term for a lot of teams, though. |
