While the batting for the Cottons has been thoroughly mediocre, the pitching has been lights out. They lead the league in runs allowed with 341, a margin of 60(!) fewer runs than the second place Weston Pointe Caspers at 401. The question will be if the bats can show up when it matters, and if they can hold off Fargo to take the division in this final season push.

I'm convinced that four man rotations can be quite effective so long as your bullpen is prepared to shoulder the load when your starters are tired. I run two other SPs as long relievers who really help take the pressure off in those marathon stretches of games.

Anybody have any news on Bronze this week? I haven’t logged in since Sunday night. Just wondering how my Everett team was doing.

Antique Continues to Lead OL S286
Save the Rockin' Robins 6-1 month, which vaulted them into second, no team played much above .500 in S286, which gives us a seven-team chase for the crown. I hope to report back on the remaining schedule after I post a few things.

Port Ruppert Grabs Top Spot in OL G354
It was much the same story in G354, with most teams playing around even, enabling the Mundys to move up by winning their only four OL games.

Fake, but interesting

It also made me curious about my own teams. I ran through the transactions for Port Ruppert and I came up with the attached. I only did the current 25 man roster. The second column was supposed to be "Year Signed." The number in parentheses is the Buy Now price for the auction. Looking at it now, I guess the OVR of the player would have been helpful. Probably will do the same for the Rustlers and Keepers at some point. |

Calling All Bronze!
Hopefully someone will post the OL for bronze. At the very least, send me the screen shots of the OL team vs. team to kidheckett@gmail.com. It would be unfortunate to lose a whole season in this our 20th year.

D388 Update
Hampton Roads Rides Stellar Month to top in Diamond
The Rush had a 13-7 record in September to claim first place over the slumping Atom Smashers. Annandale ran into the buzzsaw that is the Minneapolis Gauchos, who also flexed their muscles in August play. Hampton Roads has 13 OL games remaining and Annandale has 10. They have no games against each other. Oddsmakers give the Rush a 86.39% chance to take the OL crown this year. Non-OL News
So it appears we will put 8 to 9 teams into the playoffs There is an outside chance one team will be relegated Last edited by Charlatan; 08-17-2019 at 09:21 AM. |

I hope the "slumping" part of the name isn't trademarked yet. I was hoping to add it to one my three team nicknames. Usually it applies to all of them. Hmm...Asylum Slumping Keepers would still have the ASK abbreviation. I have also considered naming one of them Out of a Slump, since that's been a fairly ubiquitous "achievement" of mine. |

Remaining S286 Schedule
Decided to put up all the teams. Quite a few late-in-the-season games.

Remaining G354 Schedule
Ditto for G354. No significance to the blue border on the Ozark games. Must have forgot to move my mouse.

Perfect league update:
Victoria surges to the top with an impressive run of wins (and will be virtually impossible to catch as they have completed their OL schedule and can sit back and let the rest of the OL teams duke it out. Only California can pass Victoria in the OL standings, and only if the win all 20 of their remaining games.) going into the stretch run of September, OL teams lead all six divisions and hope to have a strong push going into the post season. |

Iron league update:
Steelport remains atop the standings and hold their fate in their own hands as they have 8 OL games remaining. overall... Steelport, Stephensville and O'Fallon continue to lead their respective divisions. Steelport clings to a 1.5 game lead in the NC East. Stephensville holds a slightly larger 5.5 game lead in the NC Central; and O'Fallon's magic number is already down to 5 as they hold a seemingly insurmountable 25 game lead in the AC Central. |

S286 - Last two weeks
Decided to try something a little new to make the OL race more visible, by putting up the late schedule. I will try to update the OL standings as of Sept. 17th. Oops, forgot to center October. Maybe next year.

One of the things that I find truly surprising is how well OL has been doing in perfect league the past few seasons. As many of you know, our Perfect league is composed of NFTP (nearly Free-To-Play teams) as well as OL teams. NFTP teams "should" have an advantage, as they can choose any players to use on their teams (this includes Perfect Trout, probably the best value in the game) and they may have spent some money (up to about $75) on their players.
Yet that is not what we see. Last year, with (13?) teams in perfect, OL dominated. Once again, this year, with 15 OL teams, they comprise all six division leaders, and seven of the top nine teams, in terms of record. Only one of the four teams likely to be relegated are OL teams. It is a indeed puzzling.

Tracking Missions
I like tinkering around with spreadsheets and I've developed a way to track missions that I really like - so I thought I'd share it with y'all.
This code tracks how how many cards you need to complete the collection, how much you've spent, and how much you still need to spend to complete it. And it answers one simple question: if you completed the collection and sold the reward, would you gain or lose PP? Note that there's one gigantic assumption here: that the cards making up the collection have no value. You buy them and put them on your reserve roster forever. This calculation is quite different if you end up using a few cards from the collection. At any rate, let's answer the easy question. First Picture The first figure shows how I've got it set up in the spreadsheet. At the top left is the mission name. Top center is how many cards I need to complete the mission. Top right is the "worth it or not" determination... green means "worth it" and red means "not worth it." The orange column ("Pd") down the middle is where you enter the prices paid for the cards... in this case I don't have any of the cards, so there's no values there. The AH column shows prices I've gotten off the auction house for the cards in question. When I'm not sure of the price (uh... like if I'm completely guessing!) I italicize it. Second Picture The second picture shows one of the magic formulas. This formula tracks how many cards you need to complete the mission. As you fill values into the orange column, this number will go down. Third Picture The third picture is the second magic formula. The "Remaining" cell consists of the sum of the "lowest n" cards you need to complete the mission, where "n" is the value calculated from the second picture. So as you get cards for the mission, this sum continues to update to reflect how much you still need to spend to complete the mission. Fourth Picture This picture describes the formulas or meanings of the remaining cells. Last edited by Charlatan; 08-17-2019 at 01:06 PM. |

And here's that mission partially filled out, showing it in action.
Final note: I'll be glad to explain it in more detail if anyone wants to know more, and I will happily share a few missions on a sheet if anyone wants to get ahold of some. I have only done a couple though, so if you want to track a mission, you've probably got to make one of these yourself. But it's not terribly hard! |
