Are your logos in PNG format or BMP? You might need to change the formats, as maybe FaceTool will only recognize the PNG files. This is just an educated guess on my part.

As far as changing uniforms go, it will not change uniforms or generate any new player photos for any players that have already been created and have not changed teams. If you want to overwrite your existing players, then you have to delete all the files associated with your league in the OOTP FaceTool data folder. All of the files will begin with the name of your league as it is named in the OOTP saved games folder. So, by default, the game doesn't overwrite anything unless you go out of your way to do it.

Is this an easy add or is it deeply complicated/impossible? While the generated faces are very cool, they really are not appropriate for older eras, even with facial hair.

This brings up my second (and more ambitious question): How does the face generating program deal with aging of a face? Is there any facility for taking age in to account? Right now everyone looks 23 or so, which just doesn't fit. Ideally, of course, we could "age" the faces so players would start out as youngsters and age naturally while still remaining recognizable.

I realize that this second option is most likely pie in the sky dreaming for now, but it's worth mentioning!

Thanks for the great tool in any case!

I sent Devin a batch of both facial hair (most of which he already has included in the tool) and...what do you call it after saying facial hair?...top of the head hair, I guess. He's going to try to include it when he gets a chance.

The aging, I can't see being possible. The tool doesn't currently RUN FaceGen. The faces it uses were created previously and are just pictures included in a sub folder. Who knows, though? Maybe an "aging overlay" layer with wrinkles, etc. that gets pasted over a younger face...

I can't wait for Deft's new template and Devin's next version of the tool.

Hi guys.

I'm kinda new to posting on the board, but I've been playing OOTP since 2002.

Love the Face Tool! But I've got an issue ...

I have an 18 team fictional league with fictional towns. I ran Face Tool on the league, yet some teams have a complete compliment of player photos while others only have a few.

How does this happen? And how can I fix it?

Could it be that some of the cities names match actual cities in the US while others don't?

Dunno ...

Ah, I see.

Should I assume that teams.Val is the uniforms or no?

I'm guessing the safest way to redo the uniforms is to redo the entire thing and have the program generate new faces.

I haven't started so it's not like I've gotten comfortable with a player's face (that sounds weird to say). So, I guess I could do it.

Would be cool to see how the uniform would look with the logo before going through the whole process. But, the utility is great enough.

Thanks for the help.

Some ideas;

Min AB or Min IP are affecting some little used players. Also a player must be on a team, so free agents don't get a picture.

I found in my fictional league the sub leagues that were affiliated with MLB got pictures while the independent leagues did not. I had to add team by team for those leagues.

Cities should not be a problem because Face Tool uses the CSV dump to locate where everything should go.

So my photos were in the wrong format. Fixed it. Found a work-around (just saved the old files) to see how the uniforms would look with the logos. It's obvious that it's probably better to create your own uniforms to get it to look right.

I do wonder, though. Will I be able to change a team's unform 10 years down the line?

You should be able to, although new uniforms will only show up with players who come to the team after you change the uniform. So all the guys with the old uniform will keep it until they either change teams or you delete their pics and have the program regenerate them.

I hate to repeat myself, but since it's been a few pages - does anyone have any ideas as to why I get the error saying the facial_hair.db file doesn't exist every time I start the program? It's keeping me from being able to use the program at all. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, deleted the alias in the manager thingamabob in the Control Panel, and deleted all the files Layton recommended (errors, config, and db files) several times, and just cannot get it to stop giving me that error. The file is supposed to be in data folder in the FaceTool directory, but it isn't there, and never appears to get created no matter what I do. There is a facialhair.csv file, but no facial_hair.db.

I figured that would be the case, Mel. Thanks.

If you want I could email the facial_hair.db file to you. It's only 4kb.

I'd appreciate it, man. I don't know if just putting it in there will help or not, or why it's not putting itself in there, but it can't hurt to try.

Thanks again.

Is anyone that modified their nations.txt file using this utility?
I have modded my nations and cities text, then did the data dump for the first time (import/export) folder empty; opened facetool and loaded my league and it generated photos just fine.

Yeah, I've done that several times. I get " 1 photo successfully created". I get that a lot. Never actually seen the "successful photo". I also get "access violation error" a time or two (or three).

Actually, if you select the option to use a logo and then go into the custom uniforms area, you can see what the logo will look like. Just highlight a team, click the option to set a generic uniform, and then ask to see a preview. I believe that will allow you to see how the generic uniform will look. I'm pretty sure that I did this once myself, but I've since been working on my own uniforms exclusively.

Okay, Charlie Hough sent me the file I was missing (thank you much), and the program no longer tells me that file is missing. Unfortunately, it's now telling me that the african_faces.db file is missing. So, here's the .db files that are actually being created on my computer.

games.db
nations.db

I also now have the facial_hair.db that CH sent me. How many am I missing? Also, can anyone take a guess as to why they aren't there?

Hmm, I just thought of something I probably should have tried two days ago. I'm going to re-download the installation file and see if perhaps I got a bad download the first time.

Right, after poking around a bit, I saw that the program wasn't actually running FaceGen. Such a pity, but I can understand considering the cost. I would love to see someone come out with an app that generated the 3D faces on the fly (many modern computer games have really nice dynamic face systems), but that's a bit much to expect from a free tool.

And thanks for the actual hair. Very much looking forward to everyone not being bald!

How did that work out for you?

also, thanks CH for the response on the logos and uniforms. After I posted I thought that I might be able to do that, but hadn't tried it yet. I'll check that out.
