The pattern has become where JV handles another team once, maybe twice through the lineup then the wheels come off. Why is Ausmus letting this happen one outing after another? I understand the concept of letting one of your horses get back in the grove. That process has come and gone a few games ago.

What happens if Verlander can't get it back together and Max leaves to free agency? You can't move JV with the salary he has. I suppose you could find a way to use an insanely expensive starter that can give you 4 innings.

Fifth inning again. Death, taxes, Coke blowing up and JV in the fifth. You can set a watch to it all but Ausmus isn't sure yet.

This season is starting to make me sick to my stomach.

Thing is, what can Ausmus do? It's not like he has anyone in the bullpen to bail Justin out. Bull Durham came in last night and threw gas on the fire. If this team can't get 7 out of Max, Justin and Anibal they are in severe trouble.

I know. Just venting.

My fear is that they don't turn this around in the next few weeks and suddenly find themselves looking up at KC to the tune of a half dozen games. Scherzer gets rented out to a contender for a modest prospect and the whole season is just in the crapper.

Ugh, I hear ya. Sad to say, I think this team is in trouble.

I'm with the both of you. The pitching staff needs to turn around now. Without a bullpen the starters need to toss 7. They must leave the game in a state where it can be won.

Jeff Jones is given so much praise as a pitching coach. I can't understand how with the technology we have combined with a veteran pitching staff that mechanics cannot be fixed.

Have to think Ausmus will get a angry call from Mr Boros for leaving storyline in to give up 10.

Sad thing is, Phil Coke is in and the guy that might replace him on the mound Bull Durham is quickly on his way to being just as bad.

I doubt anyone is stealing signs. A lot of the Tiger pitches over this streak have just been imminently hittable. There have been a lot of hitters counts though.....

That wild pitch was just emblematic of the way things are going for the Tigers and also the Royals.

On the positive side of things, every time Max pitches like this his free agency value decreases.

Boras cannot be pleased his ERA went from just above 3 to almost 3.8 in one June game....

Yeah, I didn't even turn the game on until the bottom of the third. I immediately turned it back off. Horrible.

I don't really think he can do anything. My personal opinion is Jim Leyland ruined Justin Verlander. Not that I blame him. Everyone knows what the deal is going in...player...team.

That's probably why Scherzer should have taken the money; but if you are the kind of a guy who wants every last friggin penny, irrespective of whether it makes a real difference to your family's financial security, you hire Scott Boras and take your chances.
