Joe Nathan has become Phil Coke. Coke needs to go before he infects more of the staff.

If we give our closer a four run lead we should be good.

Nathan's ERA over the last 10 games in 12.27. Would the Mets would consider a straight up trade for Jose Valverde?

Help Wanted
We should start posting ads on Monster.com, this is ridiculous. What's worse, is that my worst fear (for the Tigers this season, not the one where I'm trapped in a small space while someone tries to crush me) has been realized. Not sure if it is "serious", but Miggy came up hurt after last night's game. We have nothing left to replace him if he misses any playing time; it's worse if he tries to play hurt like last year.

No need to trade, Mets released him a bit ago.

This Friday will mark a month since Randy has logged in. I hope all is well with him.
When does Hanrahan come into the picture? This bullpen is beyond bad.

Don't want to add to your fears, but what scares me is Miggy having to miss some time with this hamstring and VMart taking over at 1B. We can't afford to have both these guys hurt. Last edited by David Watts; 06-09-2014 at 09:11 AM. |

It will be a long summer with a bullpen like this and an ace like that.

Yeah before the season started I thought it would be very difficult for our starters to repeat the performance they had last year. Combine that with a very shaky bullpen and it is going to be a tough run. On the plus side I really like what Ausmus has done as the skipper and I hope he can make the adjustments to get the most out of this team. Who knows... this team makes it to the playoffs and get some timely performances from their big names... anything is possible, right?

4 more walks for Verlander. I'm really starting to get worried. Oh and I miss Fister more and more. You know, a guy that could actually serve up a quick inning. K's are cool and all, but when you have to go to 3-2(and 6 foul balls) to get them, all you do is ensure we see the wonderful cast in the bullpen faster. Not sure what to expect out of Verlander for the rest of the season, but if he continues to walk 4+ a game, I don't expect it to be pretty. UGH!

Yeah, even when Verlander doesn't walk lots of guys, he seems to need (or want) to throw a lot of pitches to get guys out now. Seems like he would have been able to adjust to that by now (but that's easy for me to say from my couch).

So Scherzer gives us a CG 3 hit SHO. The only way to make sure you get the W. I would not be surprised if he gets 250+ innings

Royals could be in first place by Sunday. Black is white. Down is up.

While I know that you have to let your pitchers work through issues, AusMus needs to see that cut off point better. After catching so many season, one would think that would be easy for him.
The perfect example is with JV on the mound. Of late one just needs to wait for that 5+ inning. |

Finally, Tigers exploit a bad bullpen for a win.
Verlander needs to shake off whatever is eating him tomorrow night or Motown may be looking up at KC by week's end.

For the love of all things baseball how many times is Ausmus going to let Verlander crash and burn?
The pattern has become where JV handles another team once, maybe twice through the lineup then the wheels come off. Why is Ausmus letting this happen one outing after another? I understand the concept of letting one of your horses get back in the grove. That process has come and gone a few games ago. What happens if Verlander can't get it back together and Max leaves to free agency? You can't move JV with the salary he has. I suppose you could find a way to use an insanely expensive starter that can give you 4 innings. |

Maybe the answer to Detroit's bullpen issue in already sitting on their bench. Have JV pull a Smoltz, by taking an incredible starter and turning him into a scary closer that throws in the upper 90's while having 4 killer pitches.
