Also, that looks like a template. Is it?
Use could still use Front Page to design your basic HTML and then cut & paste the HTML that it generates into your PHP code. That is probably where that is coming from. You can't do PHP in Front Page.

If you visit http://www.mlbsim.net/index.html you see it doesn't exist, but if you visit http://www.mlbsim.net/index.php you see that it is indeed the front page of the website.

I have no idea if its a template or not. That does seem like a common design that I've seen before. But even if all that stuff was canned code it still takes a bit of time to get it all running on your website and configured properly. The forum and export tracker are certainly canned code, but it would probably take someone who really knew what they were doing about an hour just to configure them on a website. If the front page/article management thing is also canned code, then your are probably looking at roughly two hours minimum (likely more because configuring this stuff never seems to go as smooth as it should ) before you've touched any HTML design.

I'm basing my template assumption on the instructions that appear in the source code.

Ah I see what you mean. It looks like that is for some canned Javascript scroller of some sort, but its either not working or not being used on his website currently. (Or I am blind and can't see it.)

2 minutes to learn to use FP?

Could you learn to use DreamWeaver for me in the next couple of minutes and give me a synopsis? You seem to be a 'natural' at this stuff.

I get $65 per hour for programming and/or web development if you're interested. That's a bargain from the $100 to $125/hr my boss got billing my time.

Being such a fast learner, I'd think you could have already created this site for the starter of this thread rather than doing all the jawwing that you've done in his direction.

Just an observation, mind you.

lol its probably true, but thats the point. people will waste time and days waiting for a response for help on something, when if they took a couple minutes themselves, they realize they would be getting ripped off if they paid for it(especially for a website for an ootp league, they arent complex at all). i mean, this is the internet, plenty of resources on creating web pages right at your finger tips. and if you dont want to create from scratch, copy someones code, and just edit it to how you want it to look.

But don't forget to ask permission before using. Several have gotten bashed on these boards for copying code though personally it doesn't bother me.

BW - when you purchased you webspace did you make sure to purchase webspace from someone who supports php and a database (mySQL typically)? If not and you want this, you'll need more than just someone to host HTML.
Not to say that guy is not an idiot, but you can build that type of site using HTML. This is done HTML: http://www.jaxmagicman.com/OTBA/index.html

Yes, you can build a website with just HTML that has a left/right margin and a central column of content. But you can not build a forum (which you have and is php), export tracker, or article management system with just HTML. The forum and article management system require a server-side processor and database and the export tracker requires a server-side processor. So my point was, did he want a website that looks like that or works like that. They are entirely different, require different resources, and one wouldn't take near as long as the other to complete.

Xoops (xoops.org) is good too. I had a little background in HTML (not much), but I learned how to get Xoops to do what I wanted basically by searching their forums and asking questions. Very intuitive, easy to administer, looks nice and neat.

Finally came up with this site for our league after 3 months of trial, error, and refinement.

Cool. I do plan on giving this sort of stuff a try. But its hard when you work alot of hours as i do to find the time. I realize it is probally simple to learn, hopefully within the next few months i can get a little more profficent at it.

I when out and got a basice html starter book and I taught myself how to do basic html I also looked at source codes on things I didn't understand Bottom line is html by itself isn't that hard to learn but it isn't a piece of cake either. Right know I am trying to build a database driven website like the BOSI and serveral league have websites like that but i am having a real hard time with it
