Maybe the link wasn't working because they were trying to right clock on the link instead of trying to right click on the link.

Rename the attached file to "index.html" to view it. (its an html file but renamed "history.txt" because html type is invalid for uploading). If you want, in your league place it as "index.html" in the folder YourLeague.lg/Almanac/History.alm and it will be viewable in the in-game Almanac under "History" instead of a year that normally appears there.

The file contains franchise relocations with team abbreviations as they change, ballpark changes, roster rules changes, minimum ML salary changes, Allstar locations, team name changes, player strikes, division alignment changes, changes in the number of games for post season, first night games and notes on some team moves that were approved to happen but didn't, notes on challenges to the reserve clause that could have started free agency earlier, bannings for gambling and notes on the beginnings of minor league affiliations with ML teams.
Attached Files
File Type: txt history.txt (26.0 KB, 215 views)

Maybe with the new OOTP7 this all might be possible with little tweaking. I was hoping the game would have been smart to see that I am in x year and so these are my teams, and these are my players, and this is my era. You know what I mean? Perhaps the dev guys hadn't thought of doing a whole historical sim. It may not have been designed that way.

The game is great, and those first few seasons were pretty accurate, and all but one WS champion was correct to real life in my sim. (1904 there was no WS but the season played through) and the 1908 season, it was the pirates, not the cubs who made it all the way for some reason. Don't know why. But aside from that, the results are pretty historical.
There were actually plenty of rookies in 1918, including a big name or two (Johnny Mostil, Jesse Haines, Waite Hoyt, etc.). I don't know why you didn't get any. You're missing some important names if you don't have them, though.

Its very possible I was missing some players. I had been using a modified version of the Baseball Archive database.

No matter, it seems I can't exactly do what I want it to just yet. Perhaps on OOTP7 that will change. Actually, would I would really like to do is set some options, and then walk away from it for a weekend and let it crunch and have it pull in real rookies and just let it go for 100 seasons. And then I would like to take over the league at the right time you know?

Actually, that sounds like a great fictional leauge idea.

Tiger Fan,

I have 5 historical leagues, of which 4, I manage a team. In the initial setup, I set it for generic L/R splits. Is there a way to change this once the league has been set up? I'm well into the seasons and have gone through a few years in one of them. I did notice that Mickey Cochrane hit .440 for me in 1933 and yeah, I was skeptical of it.

I do not believe you can change it once the league is set up that way.

I've never seen a place to change that setting.

This is one of the features of the Era Calculator. It lets you know what teams changed cities/nicknames, moves to new staidums, changes in schedule length, the years there was no world series, when to adjust the era in OOTP, and which expansion teams to add.

EDIT - The file used by the Era Calculator is free text so you can view it in notepad if you don't want to use the program.

Anyone wanting a copy of my Chronology has only to PM me.

I will be posting it on a web site again soon in full display as it used to be. Just working on getting some web space.

Clicking the wrong button is a possibility. I've done it a couple of times but luckily always back up my solo league before rolling over to the new year.

I use the Lahman database and I even restored to 1917 backup thinking I missed the question or hit the wrong button. It never asked me the question to import real rookies for 1918. It automatically created amateurs and went forward. And then it did ask me for 1919, so I assumed there were no real rookies for 1918. I am going to check my database now for these names to see if they are in the game.

Just as a follow-up to this, I identified all the 1918 rookies and printed the id's out. None of them got into the game somehow. I don't know why the game didn't ask to import rookies for 1918 when it asked for every other year. I'm a bit disappointed to be entering these guys at the start of the 1924 season, especially Haines and Hoyt. Oh well....
