Wow, I think that's probably the first reasonable post about Derek Jeter I've ever seen.

Funny... I do the same thing when I hear about sheep.

IMO, most broadcasters to any sport are little more than baby sitters and yukkers (radio is better, but real pbp is a dying breed). Baseball is painful to watch but what should be the easiest sports to pbp for, football, is even worse to listen to. Every view is treated like his is a potentially first time watcher with zero knowledge about football. I'd love for the SAP to have another pbp team that actually calls the game for those that understand the game.

Actually, I was just about to mention this. Thanks to Tim McCarver, I am now ENJOYING the Fox broadcast, in glorious SPANISH! It's much more entertaining to listen to two guys speaking a language that you do not understand.

It sounds like this:

I didn't hear Jeter mentioned once tonight. For the first time in a while, I actually wasn't annoyed by the announcers. Maybe that's because I was plaing CIV 3 and the music from that pretty much drowned out the announcers

I tried listening to the radio to block out the TV announcers last night and discovered that Fox has the game on a three second delay. It's very disconcerting when you hear an announcer tell you that a hitter swung and missed at a fastball while you're still looking at the pitcher in his windup.

It's so weird. I don't understand why they do that. I think if Jeter is smart, he'll spend his career in New York. If he played on any other team - even the Mets - there is no way that he'd get that sort of attention.

And I like the guy.

I just don't understand the hoopla over him. I dunno, maybe they see something being closer to the game that we don't?

I noticed this with the radio broadcast on MLB.com too. A friend would pipe in over chat and tell me that so and so just hit a HR, but he was just coming to the plate in the broadcast.

Yeah, there's some sort of delay for the internet broadcasts of the games. I noticed it over the summer when I thought it would be cool to watch the game on Fox but listen to the Red Sox announcers call the game.
