I have to think that if Boston beats New York and then losses the World Series that they would still be happy.

There will be very few Boston fans happy if that happens, they want it all.

Nope. No way. Not this year. I can't speak for everyone but I would be almost as devastated as if they lost this upcoming series.

The people you are talking about aren't real Red Sox fans, but the bandwagon jumpers that climb on board this time of year.

Were this 1999, then yes, I'd be satisfied with just making the World Series (as a step toward the ultimate goal)... but that team is a far cry from the 2004 version. I won't be satisfied with anything less than a championship this year.

I'm definately worried, but I have confidence in my team pulling this out. Mussina has been pitching VERY well of late, and should be able to stand toe to toe with Schilling. Lieber and Martinez .. well .. you never know what you'll get from either. Arroyo vs Brown .. same thing. Wakefield (just a guess) vs Vazquez/El Duque .. 3 weeks ago, I'd give this one to the Yanks easily. But, with El Duque's tired arm, they might have to go to the human HR machine which doesn't bode well against the Sox' offense.

Still, I say the Yankees find a way to win in 6.

The Sox are the best team in baseball right now. Anything less than a WS title has to be considered a failure.

11-8 against the MFY this year. Eight games better than the Yanks according to the Pythagorean Standings. Bronson Arroyo pitching like an ace. Sox in 6.

I agree, as the sign's have said in new england it's "World Series or bust" for the sox this season.

Bronson showed guts out there and was outstanding. At a young age he is proving to be someone the sox can count on in a big game, that will be huge in a 7 game series. Derek Lowe has always been a big game pitcher, in fact he came out in game 3 shut down the the halo's and actually picked up a win. Foulke and Schilling, well they are Foulke and Schilling. And i will be every team in the league wishes they can send out Pedro Martinez as a #2 starter, and Bronson Arroyo as a #3.

I first thought that the sox would make this series harder then it has to be and force it into game 7. However, after looking at this more, i cant see this series going beyong 5 game. So thats my prediction for the sox/yanks series. Game 5, in Fenway is when it will be over.

It looks like a tossup to me. I think it could be as likely to be Red Sox in 5 as Yankees in 6. Both teams have question marks at starting pitching (Schilling's great, but Pedro has bad luck against the Yankees and no one out of the trio of Arroyo, Lowe, and Wakefield scares me, while everyone knows about the Yankees' starting pitching issues), and both teams have explosive offenses that can put up anywhere from 2 to 10 runs on any given day. Should be a fun series.

Deathwish Arroyo is scheduled for game 7 so I like our chances if it happens. I'm guessing it doesn't go that long though. Good guys in 6.

You could. If you choose NY though, you're wrong.

Edit. I fully expect my drunken celebration of the ALDS victory to get me banned by Sporr.....

It may make a difference or not but either way, condolences to the Mariano Rivera and his family, he lost two relatives, they died cleaning his pool.

We never want to hear things like that.

If Rivera does'nt play this series or misses some games, Yanks have no chance, but family comes first. I think he will play though.

Boston's offense is gonna rip the Yankees pitching staff a new one. Sox in six... though I'd like to see it go seven again.

Can't stand the Yanks, but have to pick them until Boston proves they can beat them in a big spot. Pulling for Boston, but think Yanks in 7.

When the Yankees are out of it, I will probably start a couple 'in your face' threads at least.
