As a programmer I understand the inherent thanklessness of the job on many levels.

That said, releasing a game with no manual is a really bad idea. If I had known there was none at the time, I would not have purchased the game.

Given the time passage since the release date I would think that 'Where's the #$#%*()#$#$ manual would be much more appropriate than saying "please."

I don't get the obsession with some about the manual.

It will never be as helpful or comprehensive as the knowledge of the people who post on this site. It seems some who want it, just want to reduce the traffic of 'easy' questions that would be answered by the manual.

True, it can never encompass the knowledge of the various posters on this board. It could (but probaby wouldn't) cut down on the easy questions. Less bandwidth used, you'd think the company would like that wouldn't you.

I am not trying to start an argument...I'm tired of those type of threads...but I think a manual with a product is basic. It should be ready when the game is released...especially when it is such a highly complex game like OOTPB. I have been playing it for over two years and still am learning new things about it. It is mindboggling what I have learned from board members during that time.

While not perfect, when I first purchased the game, I got a pretty good foundation on the game from the OOTP3 manual. I think it would be helpful to the newcomers to the game...and I really hope it proves to be helpful to the game vets, by giving us some help on player development and aging modifiers and the interaction of stuff, movement and control, recalculate totals button and BABIP. A lot of us are in need help in those areas...and I'm sure there are other areas that need some explanation.

I thought jbmagic's post was alright...a good question. I wish we would all give a poster the benefit of a doubt and not be quick to pounce on them...especially for grammar and spelling and minor things of that ilk...or for asking a question about a particular subject that might be a sensitive one.

I didn't find anything wrong with jbmagics post and his frame of words of asking it. I didn't think he was being rude, but rather trying to get to the point of his question, which is a valid one. I myself dont use the manual, i troll the FAQ and seem to find all my questions answered. But, i understand how a customer would want everything included in a purchase they completed online...It's not like OOTP is a simple game.

Cheers

To ease my mind, a few months ago when the manual discussion came up (not for the first time) and I wasn't pleased with the official responses, I just assumed that no manual would be released for OOTP6. I still operate under that assumption - anything I'm not sure about I just search for here, ask other on-line owners, or learn by trial and error.

Honestly, what good would an update do? The only update I'm interested in reading is the one that says "the manual has been uploaded to the site".

The cool thing about the manual being completed will be the complaining that can finally begin about it when it doesn't meet the expectations of all the people who have been complaining about the lack of a manual.

I agree with others it is a mistake, from a business point of view, to not have the manual ready when the game is released. But the irony is the people it will help the least are ones who frequent this message board the most. The biggest thing putting out the manual will accomplish is forcing the cynical members of this community to find a new whipping boy issue to post completely unconstructive comments about.

I agree. Although it was grammatically incorrect, when taken in its proper context it was not malicious. I would compare it to what many kids my age call 'slang'. At any rate, maybe I should just write my own manual and sell it in book stores, like they do for other games (such as Sim City). I am in need of a secondary source of income with Nelson taking my lunch allowance every day.

Grammatically correct or incorrect, how the subject was brought about or how it should have been brought about - you all have turned the subject into something totally different than what it should have been.

TC Dale supplied the information, and when jbmagic says he just wished that they had gotten an update, TC Dale automatically starts posting saying that jbmagic is wrong because he had given him an update when jbmagic seems to have been talking about before TC Dale had posted.

Speaking of touchy, I think everyone in this post has been touchy in one regard or another. Too many topics we have flame wars instead of getting to the true issue.

I'm actually suprised that people haven't just gotten together and written it themselves. 10 people, 1 area of the game each, 1 week and it's done.

They'd probably get you a copy of the boxing trivia game for your hard work .

I agree I also am in software development as a security apps developer/designer and got to say that documentation is essential in any softeware made. Marcus has made great games with this series but I have been alittle pissed off that after what 5 -6 months after releasing the game their is no manual and people continue to make excuses for people.

I could have written the manual single handedly by now if someone had paid me to do it, and I have a pretty busy schedule. I can't imagine what is going on that has held it up this long.
