If four or five owners in a league are doing this, they are potentially spoiling a large percentage of the talent in the league, and a commissioner cannot allow that. If you’re a commissioner and you’re not making sure everyone’s minor league systems are in order, eventually you’re going to have big trouble.

That’s just one thing that can happen, and there are many more. A commissioner has to closely watch every aspect of every team in his league, to preserve that league’s integrity.

Some trades are not reasonable. Different leagues have different ways to decide what is or isn’t legal, but there must be some control. Ultimately it is a judgment call, but it has to be done. A league can spoil, and once it starts to stink enough, no one will come near it, and it will die. Only a good commissioner can stop that from happening.

This is well written and so darn true.

My thoughts exactly. I understand you need to give owners room or it won't be fun. But on the other hand, if you consistently allow for lopsided trades that won't be fun for the other owners either. It's a balance between extremes.

Who are you?

God of Baseball?

With all due respect to 'some' of the peoplke who posted about "stupid" people, I suggest you take a long look in the mirror

Do you know any of the info such as?

Did he have a player behind Parrish and Murray who could fill in?

George Brett is almost a hitting God in OOTP, maybe he thought he would excel with his team (stadium factors, people hitting behind him and such)

Now I agree with the people who suggest you should look at collusion but other than that your "job" as a Commish should be to create an experience to your blueprint and find others who wish to build it.

I for one had a recent trade in ORB, gave away Kirk Gibson and Dan Petry to Cleveland for Toby Harrah a OF def replacement and PR and 2 draft picks...the year is 1985...guess who is coming out in 1986? The best draft class in MLB history (arguably)

And I had the finger pointing and a majority basically called me an idiot...but I am having the last laugh...Harrah has been OUTSTANDING for me and has gone up in his taking walks...he is my leadoff hitter and only Rickey Henderson in this league is better since Harrah joined me. Gibson was hurt and went down in the stats...since joining Cleveland.

And much to everyone's surprise Cleveland is not running away with the division and except for Boston catching fire...I would be in 4th place...

So don't judge before you know all the info...yes it could be a bad trade but don't ever call someone "stupid" if their idea of want and need differs from you...

If that's your attitude, play Solo and be the manager for all your teams so no "Stupidity" takes place

Have a wonderful day

If it is a book, please read it. It can only help you.

"George Brett is almost a hitting God in OOTP, maybe he thought he would excel with his team (stadium factors, people hitting behind him and such)"

I feel like I should have simply said Player A and Player B because people are getting way too caught up in the names here. I laid out the stats for you, George Brett is a CAREER .267 hitter in this league and is CONSISTENTLY hitting between 10-15 homeruns a season. He is nowhere near a god!

And yes, maybe the team who traded away Parrish and Murray did have replacements coming up. However, aside from getting a pretty sad George Brett, which I thought I made clear in my original post, the team received 4 players he couldn't use! 2 of them retired the next off-season with career averages under .230 which shows you their quality, one is a 30 year old pitcher with a ZERO in run prevetion and the other player had a .231 career average and was LET GO the next off-season.

You trade sounds much better than this because you got draft picks which you could use.

Nah, nobody can be THAT stupid on purpose. It's gotta be someone just trying to get the forum riled up.
