There is a setting under

settings>Misc>display latest news from OOTP

Do you have it enabled?

I think? this will get you the notifications.

I'm on Steam so mine autoupdates. I thought, when I was on the FS or DR versions there was a notification there when official patches were released, but not beta patches.

Maybe it will be as simple as they read your posts and add patch announcements through the "latest news" option? Hopefully you get an official response soon.

usually when you start the game up, a pop-up box will appear, saying that there is an update available.

FastSpring version here also on macOS, no notifications of updates. I just look at the forums everyday to see. I've only gotten a few pop-ups but never about an update. That might be a broken feature...

I don’t think there’s been one in a while; 52 was definitely the last one and it’s been a good week and a half now.

Hey I realize you all are testing things to make sure they're ready to go but the rain delays are murdering historical leagues that don't use 14 man bullpens. Can we get an update, please?
