Yes (though not for the LCS in my case). I like it because it puts a big boost to each seed to emphasize the regular season: 1 gets a bye, 2 gets two chances to win one game at home, and 3 has to go win 2 straight on the road.

FWIW the WNBA used to run an extended version of this in their playoffs, perhaps it was just for the COVID season, I don’t know. But the 5 seed (I think is where it started) had to beat the 4 seed, then the 4 seed had to beat the 3 seed, and so on. It’s an interesting idea at least, especially with basketball where (presumably) getting rusty doesn’t matter as much as with baseball.
I still say that, especially in a fictional league, if you really, really want the playoffs to show who’s the best, do long series. Why stop at best of 7? Your sims don’t care if you play into December. Do a best of 21.
