) of their new team nickname, but the Guardians advance to the ALDS. They were one of my developing favorites ... uh, until I realized that they now face the Yankees. Gulp. ![]() And in Seattle vs. Toronto, may the best team win! I mean, LITERALLY. For, I want that team to beat Houston. For two reasons: 1) I dislike the Astr*s, and 2) I fear the Astr*s.

I could see the Yankees AND Astros both losing in the ALDS.

Funny to see the Mets try and get cute with their pitching plans, only to see them foiled immediately after the game one result.
For those who weren’t aware, the plan was to start Scherzer in game one - and win it - then use Bassitt in game two - with plan A being a quick sweep, then vs the Dodgers starting DeGrom in game one and Scherzer in game two. Plan B was using DeGrom in a deciding game three vs the Padres. How quickly they’ve been forced to resort to Plan C 😊 Note: It’s not actually a bad plan at all, but to announce it so brazenly makes the instant foiling of the plan a bit entertaining. Especially considering how Showalter carries himself as some sort of mastermind strategist. |

So I missed a classic. (I caught the Blue Jays cruising to an easy victory…oh, wait…instead.). I was wondering how Gonzalez hit a walk-off with a guy on 2b and yet it was a 1-0 final; figured the "ghost" was picked off or caught stealing or something like that. Huh. Okay, lesson (hopefully) learned. I'll do better next time. |

ESPN's take on the LDS:
Houston's concern level: rising (still favored, but Seattle seems comfortable and has momentum) New York's concern level: boiling over (they need to rely on their power which, if it doesn't come, will set them up as clay pigeons for Cleveland which knows how to play the game the right way) Atlanta's concern level: steady and low (they are "fully stocked, rested, confident and totally unconcerned" but they had better not underestimate Philadelphia) Los Angeles' concern level: "It never rains in Southern California" (meaning, it will be a colossal upset for San Diego to beat them)* *After all, the song goes on to say: But [man], don't they warn ya? It pours, man, it pours

For whom does a grumpy Mets fan root in the first NLDS game today?
A) Barves B) Philthies Yes, the answer is C) The Earthquake.

B) Philthies. Reason? The moronic Atlanta Braves Tomahawk Chop.

Valid argument, I will consider it.

Dude, I'm just rooting for the (former) Mets DP Combo of the Future and the rest of the 'dians. (And Seattle because…Astros.)
Everything else is just noise. (Although if I have to see Emma Stone's fake "husband" drag her to any more Padres games, I may gain a new appreciation of Dodger Blue, I'll admit.) I grant you, with my Philly roots and my general tolerance for our "little brothers", they should be an easy call against the Noc-a-Homas. But "rooting for" Bryce Harper? Eek. |

But you have to pick somebody, and over the years, watching the beer-bellies go "Whoa ... whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa ... [lower tone] whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa" while doing that nonsense with their fat arms; well, I've had enough. ![]() None of that going on right now, is there?

I only root for Andres Gimenez. I almost bawled when the Mets traded him for Lindor. Rosario could have hung dead over the fence around the yard here and I wouldn't have cared.

You know, the pitcher for Atlanta is fried. Fried to the max, I tell you!
![]() No, he's not drunk. He's Max Fried. Philadelphia is frying him right now, though.

Wow, they needed every one of those seven runs, in the end.

Switching channels, I see that the M's had absolutely no respect for Justin Verlander. No fear, either. Would "teed off on him" be overstatement?

I'm glad they figured it out, as I read I thought I should suggest you complain to them. Not that they care, but a lot of times with MLB.tv it seems like some feature is broken when it's rolled out and they figure it out shortly. Now, it's hard to imagine why the Dutch rights, say, are so critically important that they don't want people streaming. I'll have to ask my Italian friends, I'm pretty sure they have MLB broadcasts but I thought people were streaming.
