I don’t think anybody on this post qualifies with the standards he wants. I have 4 perfects on my active roster and Two of them are in my bullpen and 1 platoons and the fourth is R Johnson a starter. I don’t think anyone has 10. I could be wrong, I have not played in a league with Lake Monroe in awhile so they might have 10. (But they did not need 10 to win, They did it with smarts.) I only know one friend who has over 10 and he is TwinsFan who has not even responded to this post. Lol.

Besides I have always said the perfect cards are overrated. My best players are Diamonds. Ruth, Cobb, Guerrero , Lajoie, Just to name a few are all diamonds. My starters (Who are number 1 in the league) are Diamonds with the exception of R. Johnson who I might replace with T. Keefe and you guessed it he is also a Diamond. I have 3 silvers on my active roster and 1 of them is a starter. So I do not believe that perfect cards equal whales or winners. Some people are making limit teams. Orcin for example has one going that states Perfect cards are worth 5 points and diamonds are worth 3 points. Well are you trying to tell me there is any perfect card worth 40 pct more then any of the diamonds I have mentioned on my team? So again some perfect cards are nice but Diamond cards are the best and gold is not bad either. That is my opinion and I have made the playoffs every single season against whoever and once you make the playoffs it is all a crap shoot for that Ring.💍🏆🥇

You are absolutely correct. Saw some teams like Fargo with 18+ Perfect cards for a while but that did not guarantee a win. It guarantees a great seasonal record against the average competition but another top competitor with top diamond cards can win. I don’t believe the definition for whale is based on number of perfect cards or having perfect cards. Instead, I see it based more on the amount required to field certain teams (Cobb, Ruth, Bonds, Guerrero, the top 10 pitchers in the league, ....). Most average perfect division teams (with Mookie, Trout, and a bunch of 20-40k player) will lose as they play enough games against the best of the best players that often sell for a lot more . I don’t have a good analogy but a team like Alabama in NCAA football tend to do better in the long run because they have more players with a higher ceiling.

You have perfect Randy in your rotation (sells for ~90K) and I have 97 Randy (sells for ~30K). Why do you have perfect Randy? Because he is better. Is he 3 times better? Probably not. But he is better and you are looking for every edge to win. Perfect Randy costs an extra $50 U.S. cash, so perfect cards have to count for significantly more than diamonds in order to keep people from adding a bunch of expensive incremental upgrades and driving out the budget conscious player. P.S. I am going to post this answer in my other thread too. |

I think perfect Pedro should be worth 25 points.

For the record, we have 4 perfects, but for the 2nd year in a row I've had to banish perfect Eck to the reserve roster because he sucked. Also we have perfect Mays (so I guess that's 5 but I don't count him) but he can't crack our OF apparently so he's on the block until someone pays up.

We have a legitimate whale in our league, the Kogarah Kings, with 15 perfects and 10 diamonds. Medici's IB Breakers and the Doctrine are competing with them for best record; currently the Breakers are the best, as they have been all season.
The Doctrine are still trying to win our division, as the Babylon Blackbirds are only 3.5 games behind us and playing equally well. They only have 5 perfects. |

I've only got 1 perfect card. I don't even come close to qualifying for something like this.

Maybe it could have been debated early on because not everyone understood that movement is the #1 rating for pitchers to start out with and not everyone realized how LHP cannot ever be as good as RHP at perfect. But pretty much everyone understands that now. Last edited by zrog2000; 01-27-2019 at 02:34 PM. |

My best team (Gryphon Golds) don't qualify and I don't consider them in the elite PL teams for sure, despite having won a WS at perfect (stars aligned one year)... so I propose a "not quite killer whale but definitely meaner than the average dolphin" league...

I just beat a team 3-2 in division round that went 133-29 for season. They have 4 perfects, 13 diamonds, 7 gold, and 1 silver. I have 1 diamond. We are both second year teams. I bet he did not think he would spending another year in silver.

Might look into lowering the requirements. I've won my Perfect League two out of three seasons (and am on my way to three out of four) but I don't have anywhere near 10 perfect cards. I think I have four (and will prb dump one this off-season). A lot of the perfect cards can be pretty easily bested by well-chosen historical diamond cards or even some of the better gold cards. I'd rather play with guys looking to win rather than just looking to collect perfects.
