I thought I was the only one. We should start a support group

...and then start another support group 2 weeks later

Most of us won’t have time for a support group we are too busy trying to setup our universe.

I've always been a serial league starter. Probably always will be. I'm just glad that I'm not into elaborate setups that take time and effort to create. If the league I'm currently playing took 20 minutes to create, it's because the phone rang or my wife asked me a question during creation. I'm not someone that likes to do test leagues. So, I create a league and dig in. If something is off, I scrap it and dig in again. No way to describe it, but there's definitely a feeling you get when a league is the one. Great thing is, once you achieve that feeling, the little flaws and imperfections become passable, acceptable and sometimes even things you cherish.

I have started 5-6 different ideas foe universes since 19 came out and I haven't managed to play the game much.

I think we need to create more quickstarts for this reason. Give folks a lot of options so that they don't have to create them on their own.

Not so much creating universes as I get bogged down with creating/updating 3D stadiums. Last couple of years I barely touched the game outside of the park editor. This year I vow to give myself more play time. I started a 1986 season and it is fun so far

I spent so much time setting up my league and getting attached to it that I can't even dream of starting a new one. I think I would rather quit completely than start a new league.

This year - 2-way players. Just great for early baseball era.
Me too. Though I have not deleted the random debut league that I was posting regularly about and had about 20 seasons run on, but I have not returned to it because of a zillion other ideas I have tried.

I am running a new random debut with teams from not exactly major league cities and with nice logos and names, playing starting from 1901 but using 1978 as the historic year (I decided 1986 - the season in the league mentioned above, has offensive stats that are over the top esp. regarding SBs). And playing out most games for my New Jersey Bluebirds team.

Nope. I just fire it up and go. I’m halfway though 2018.

After 5 seasons, I should have a feel for what I liked and didn't like... make a universe.. and repeat. Of course the problem now is that I keep only going 5 seasons lately instead of like the very first universe I had which went over 100.

Okay... so now I'll have to alleviate THAT problem....
This is a smart way to go. It leaves the option open to keep going for 100 years if you love a universe you created. But it also gives you the option to drop it after a 5-year commitment. Maybe we should treat relationships and marriages the same way ! But if you tell yourself - I still like this league after five years, it should be another five-year commitment. If you don't want to stick with it for 5 more years, it means it is not really wowing you. If you do want to do 5 more, it means you do really like what you are doing. I plan on applying my hybrid version of your wisdom immediately with the league I am playing now.

The real loss is in seeing records accumulate, a baseball history emerge, but the five year option renewable could give us that possibility.

Thanks for your wisdom. Great Bill Lee quote too !

Let me know if you fall in love with using fictional teams. I love it.

Enjoy. They have no meaning to me. Everyone’s taste is different.
