I understand it is a terrible thing which happened, and I feel for his family and friends...but please get a grip on yourself...I think you might be a asking things a bit far when you (and others) can't seem to distinguish reality from a simulation.

You're the second person on here today to basically tell me that my opinion is wrong. You know nothing about me or the losses I've had in my life. Yes, I got teary eyed when I found out about Jose. I even got teary eyed watching the Dodger game yesterday and I'm not even a Dodger fan. I can distinguish reality from fiction in that I don't need someone on the internet telling me how I should feel.

Not saying you can't have an opinion or strong feelings about Jose's death...I just think maybe you're taking things a bit far when you can't/won't enjoy a OOTP MLB inspired league.

He was my favorite pitcher not on the Red Sox. I'm starting a new game for the first time in months with the Marlins in remembrance of him.

This is the best place on the internet to get that kind of feedback, trust me!

I turned on the Mets' radio call tonight while I made dinner, not even thinking about who they were playing. Howie Rose and Josh Lewin did a really fantastic job describing what was going on, all the player tributes, and even random other stories, like the home plate umpire who had lost two children to disease, one at the age of 24 just like Jose F. I got choked up a couple of times, and I say this as someone who really dislikes Jeff Loria and the Marlins' perpetual fire sales. The Marlins' players, staff, and especially their fans really acquitted themselves well tonight, and it made me proud to be a baseball fan.

As to the OP, I have always left people like Nick Adenhart, Darryl Kile, etc. etc. in my games as I enjoy seeing them live on. But I sympathize with folks that feel the opposite way. Just don't delete your saved game, you may eventually feel differently.

Yeah, I've backtracked on my initial idea of scrapping MLB leagues, but I may end up starting over anyway because of the traded players being released bug. It's not because of anyone's comments on here, just an emotional weekend.

It's not your place to tell anyone how they should feel.

I am not telling anyone how they should feel at all.... I am saying I think not using an MLB league in a simulation which is not real life is not really necessary, and may be blurring the lines between reality and something which isn't.

Well, I think you are right, yet however I can understand that someone wants to temporary not be reminded of this sad death. In a longterm situation, I'd agree that being too concerned is a bit unreasonable, but there are fans, maybe even friends and family possibly playing OOTP, and for them, the pain may be real.
If someone wants to respect him by not having them part of their game, that is their choice after all, as valid as letting him pitch his career or implementing his death along with retirement of his number.

Yeah, like I said I've already backtracked from my statement about no more MLB leagues. I probably shouldn't have stated it on here in the first place. I have a 4 month old daughter and I hate that Jose will never get to meet his child.

Don't feel bad for letting your emotions speak. You did nothing wrong.

Very good question & no problem asking it same day. I'm speaking as though you didn't personally know him, so what's the big deal asking. In my case I'm going to let him continue in my league as a show of HONOR to him. Very tragic news, but after losing nearly all my family members & knowing 1st hand that life does continue for all the second a person passes. Do as you wish, but leaving him in game and SHORTLISTING him so you can follow his career would be a way in your world to HONOR Jose Fernandez. Enjoy this marvelous game and keep on keeping on...life's to short to be trivial about life....

Nah, it's after death was in. He was angry when he saw John Henry died.

This is exactly why his death hit me just as hard as it did you. Eight-month-old daughter here. The thought that Jose's daughter will never get to see her dad's smile and he'll never get to see her smile at him tears me up.

As soon as his death was reported, I retired him from my real-time season immediately.
I really couldn't believe that I clicked "retire player" for Jose Fernandez last Sunday!
As a Marlins fan as well as Mets fan, I was very hurt that I had to do that!
I also deleted the game between the Marlins and Braves as well.

I don't play with real players much ever but last night was simming for giggles and saw Jose in my league too and wondered what to do with him. Considered CEI-ing him, but decided not to.
