Markus if you need anyone to play OOTP all day, eat your food and drink your beer then I have talent coming out of my ears for that job.

Or it should be, anyway.
Would have issues in the US with that word choice.

Oh, and the women... phew, the only place I know they are hotter is Stockholm.
The restaurants must be new.

There is nothing scary about Germany

I studied abroad at Bonn. Didn't study computers though. Great opportunity for someone with the qualifications.

Same here. I don't get that though. Markus certainly isn't young. He's only a year younger than me IINM. Why should it matter how old you are? Talented programmer, sure, but young? Are there health cost concerns or something?

It definitely is. I'd be a little surprised if Europe doesn't have similar laws/cases.

Regardless, I'm happy Markus is putting this out there to us fans. Congrats to whomever gets the job. It'll be a dream come true, I'm sure.

Hi Markus,

I am a very immature 47 year old (means the same as young) and I took "Intro to C++ for non-majors" in college some 20+ years ago...I got a 'B' by the way.(not meaning to brag...just the truth). I have visited many, many websites that use PHP, Java with no problems, everything seemed fine so I should be good there. As for Baseball knowledge, I am a die hard Giants fan and considering their current record, that makes me very knowledgeable. I am perfectly willing to come to Germany for 6 months (I took four years of German in school by the way), I would just ask to be setup in a four bedroom house as I will be bringing my three young daughters. Just a note about that...you will need to talk down my ex-wife or get me a lawyer as I am pretty sure she will be a bit pissed that I took the kids...unless you can fly them back for her weekends...

Well, 'young' was probably another case of 'lost in translation'... I edited it. I do not care if the person we'll hire is 25 or 55, as long as he/her is willing to adapt to our working and programming style and is able to learn / adjust.

Game strategy, history and THEN sabermetrics
The latter is the easiest thing to grasp, it's just maths and OOTP handles it well because I believe that was your passion.

You need a C++ who knows how the game is played and the nuances first and foremost, then they need to know how it has changed historically
(and we need an option to have 3 C's with frequent depth chart subbing during 1871-1960, fix the starters used as relievers to put the best options in as stopper, long relief, instead of no role specified, contact and defense were important before modern times, a bad defensive guy would NOT start or stay in the league long, despite his offense)

I hope there is a person out there with those attributes

Tried, but there was no passion in looking at lines of code for me

I almost qualify, but I use C# instead of C++ and have my own business anyway.

Wow, what a great opportunity! Not to mention if you're young and single! Just imagine with all those fine German women over there!

I have a M.S. in Information Technology and know some programming and database languages (PASCAL, C, .Net, SQL, ). But my background is in financial systems (Oracle, PeopleSoft) and I'm almost 49 years old, married with 3 kids and a mortgage.

The train has passed me by....*sigh*
