Quoting myself, sorry, but only to apologize to Mr. Colon. Seattle may have no offense at all, this was still a well-pitched game.

Now how weird is it that those 2 teams have to come back and play more ST games?

Is it sad that I rolled out of bed, scratched the crust out of my eyes, and thought of Bartolo Colon?

Either way, it nice to wake up to a win.

Yeah, it's weird. MLB is like - Just kidding! Go play some meaningless games now.

Yeah, this is one of the craziest starts to the MLB season I can ever remember. Go play 2 games that most people didn't even know counted and then go back to spring training. Just weird I'm guessing that if they marketed the games as exhibition in Japan they assumed the turnout wouldn't be as good as the games actually counting.

Cespedes is scary. If he figures out the low off speed stuff it'll be even more scary.

Found this quote from M's RP Sherrill that kinda says a lot about this Japan thing. He gave up one of the homers.

"I hate to say it, but it still feels like Spring Training to me. It's kind of weird playing real games and then going back to Spring Training again. No excuse, I've still got to do better. But I still have a little ways to go to get ready."

Oh well, both teams come out of it 1 and 1 and the guys hitting homers are the guys you'd expect to be hitting them. I'll take it.

Well said! Let's go Oakland! Until tomorrow. I'll take a 2-1 record this early, I expected a worse start tbh.

Richie Renard: 'Cause you give yourself up for the team?
Gil Renard: And it doesn't even count against your average. That's why baseball's better than life - it's fair.

How fair is this? You folks have already enjoyed two real games this season, you have a one-game winning streak, and you're leading your division based on RS/RA (ESPN doesn't realize this). On the other hand, WE have to wait another week for games that count. What's up with this?

Um. How fair is it to wake up at 3AM to watch your own home game on TV.

(or in my case NOT wake up at 3AM and miss the game completely)

I still don't understand why they don't make that either a four game series with each team being the home team twice or make each team the home team once in the current format. Oakland lost two home games, not that the crowd really matters in that case but still.

You shouldn't need to gouge out your eyes. -Rosales goes to the minors. Although he will probably be back sometime this year, it's unlikely that he'll get that much playing time.

Sogard homers filling in for Pennington. Why is Donaldson our starting 3B again?

He looked ok last night; if you're lucky maybe the Giants will run Brett Pill out there at 3B and you'll REALLY get a treat

Nice throw by Reddick last night, too... I didn't realize he had a good arm, but I've never seen him play much.

I haven't checked with Vegas, so I'm guestimating that the over/under for number of A's wins at 74. That would make them 74-88, same as last year.

Since I'm a homer, I would take the over. What would you guys choose?

I would take the over as well, as I think this team is more mediocre than bad. I'm thinking more like 78 wins.

They looked pretty bad yesterday, particularly watching McCarthy's meltdown, but that moon shot Cespedes hit made me glad I stuck it out.

He strikes out a ton, but man, the home runs are fun.

I was there for both games and here is my mini summary.

Cespedes giveth and Cespedes taketh away. He'll still learning so we have to take bad with good, but oh my god his homerun Friday night was probably the farthest ball I've ever witnessed at the Coliseum and I've been going since 1987. And god put a howitzer on his right shoulder.

Suzuki looks completely lost at the plate. He had one good at bat all weekend.

Josh Reddick is going to be pretty good I think.

Coco Crisp needs to be traded ASAP for a 3B prospect and Cowgill or Smith put into left. The Mariners scored two runs on balls that someone with an average arm throws out by 4 feet. It is unbelievable how week his arm is. It literally looks like the ball deploys an invisible parachute about 30 feet from his arm.

Weeks is just getting better and better, on both sides of the ball.

Ryan Cook looks like a legit back end bullpen option.

I'm on the Brandon Allen bandwagon, but that being said, Daric Barton needs to get up here ASAP so that our 1B can put the ball in play.

Sogard should start at third until a better option with both defensive and offensive properties is found.

Should be an interesting season with some buzz around this team which has lacked for a couple years. We may not win a ton of games 70-80 but we definitely will be in a lot of them and may surprise some people. Now let's see how the back half of our rotation fares.

I'm looking forward to seeing some of the young starters.

I agree on Crisp. I want to see him and Cowgill in some sort of platoon, maybe each playing half the games. I know this will piss off Crisp and lower his value, but he doesn't have any value anyway. Pay someone take him at the deadline.

I like Cook as well. And first base and third base makes me want to vomit.
