Thank you Markus. That does shed some more light on this feature. It continues to be intriguing to me. I glanced over it at first, but am now thinking about how I might use it.

It might be a great way to play the game more often, but in smaller time increments for me. That's a great thing (for me) in regards to both immersion and time management (something my family and my business will both appreciate).

Thanks again and I'm considerably more excited about this release than any since v.9, IIRC.

And I simply *don't* game anymore. This will be the only game program on any of my machines. You've done a great job in creating something that remains my sole time waster.

I haven't see this as part of this real-time mode: perhaps a place on the relevant screen could identify interesting games/events as they progress: say, no-hitters in process (after say 6th inning), high K game in progress, multiple HR games by players, the possible attainment of some milestone (player has 1999 hits in the 5th inning of game), etc. Then you could watch such games (if this is possible).

That existed in earlier versions. Although good it became annoying.

Based on Markus' latest description I'm very much liking this feature.

It would appear that some will like this feature but I'm not a fan. I will use this just as I use financials, never.

I am agreeing with rich12545 on this, I think the time could have been spent better on other features.

Two things;

I don't know how long this feature took to code and debug. Sometimes a feature of a lower priority gets in simply because it was easy to do or it connects to another feature. Just my

I'm sure there are several features that I wont like much or care about. I'd like to think that I won't post on each one that the time should have been spent elsewhere. YMMV.

I'm sorry but I just don't see the point to this feature even if it only took 5 minutes to program. You can already sim the day and see all the scores if you want to do it in a hurry. The whole idea with real time is that it's REAL TIME. Or maybe 2X or 4X at most. According to the feature description the games play out while you're deciding who to put on the trading block or whatever. But to really get a benefit from the feature you need to be sitting in front of the computer for a looooong time. And that's outside of the pbp, I think there's a widget for this already but I don't use it. Getting on for maybe half an hour won't really do much. I really believe that most people who use this feature will get tired of it after a while. But maybe some will like it and sit in front of their computer for a couple of hours just to watch a ticker tape or whatever on all the games. But that's what makes ootp such a great game. There are so many ways to enjoy it. For me, it's historical pbp. I just love the nostalgia. Brings me back to the many hours I'd be at the beach listening to Vin Scully and Jerry Doggett broadcast the Dodgers through the six transistor radio in the early sixties. I also enjoy it for earlier eras I've only read about. So for new features the most important to me were the pbp, articles and gui improvement and I'll probably preorder just based on that. However, other people couldn't care less about this stuff.

Im for this new feature! I want a simulation mod for a long time!

I will be able to simulation a night of basebal during 2-3 hours during my College day! Sometimes watching the teacher and wow a breaking news from my ootp 13! A-Rod hit is second home run of the night!

Some people think its add nothing because they dont want to stay 2-3 hours in front of ur pc for that...but when like me im working and studying all day long on my pc...its a must! Its add a lot of realistic!

Sorry for my bad english grammar :/

Don't apologize. I'd be worse in French.

I'm guessing, are you in Quebec? If so where?

I did the math on this one.

(Trade Deadline + Final days of the season + winter meetings)* Real Time Simulation= EPIC^3

Rich, I don't get what you're complaining about. Real time simming basically means that you can interact with the game while it is simming at a speed of your choice.

Currently if you want to sim a week you start the sim and it brings up the sim screen where you watch the standings, league leaders and news unfold.

With real time simming you will be able to set how fast the game sims and you will be able to interact with the game instead of beeing a passive observer. That means if you see a news headline that catches your eye you can read it without having to stop the sim or wait for it to finish. Or if you receive a message, like a trade offer or injury news, you won't have to halt the entire sim just to read one message.

That's just one small example of what you can do with the feature. The only people who won't benefit from the feature are those who play out all their games and just want the other games to be simmed immediately.

I'm not complaining. I just don't see the point to this feature. Maybe it wasn't explained very well. But I don't care about it one way or the other. Primarily what I do is play out games in different historical years so I won't use it. If people like it and use it, fine. I was just expressing my opinion. I don't see the point to it.

So because you won't use a feature you dont see the point of adding it?

I'll never play a historical game with recalc, but I certainly "understand the point" of the feature.

Ok, I read through the feature again. Essentially, this is a ticker tape that runs at the bottom of the screen while you're in the game. It tells scores and events. You can run it at different time speeds. It will give you this info while you're figuring your lineup or working out a trade or whatever maybe just watching it.

I still don't see the point. If I was doing all that stuff and constantly looking down to see what was on the ticker and then back up it would give me a headache. Down up down up down up. And I certainly wouldn't care about just watching it when I could finish the day and then look at what happened.

I won't be using the playoff schedule feature but I can totally understand why a lot of people will like it and use it. It looks like a great feature for a lot of players. But this real time thing just totally loses me.

You should join OTD. You're great at misunderstanding someone else's post and then criticizing it based on a false interpretation.

You know this may be true but I would like to see the love spread a little more then just financials and story lines. Every year it seems that these two areas get most of the attention.

The story lines IMO are kinda silly. Every year I get 3-5 players injured hitting a locker. At least 5 guys selling cars. Players missing games in December from moving furniture. It gets repetitive after awhile.

I see complaints all year long about the financials and I've never got them to work right with the type of leagues I run. So I always have them off.

I would like to see things like better control over players when in commissioner mode, ie if I have 50 free agents I would like to right click the player and have 'assign player to' so I don't have to go to each player profile/edit/league/team. Would save me tons of time.

The leader board accomplishment screen needs to be editable, not every league uses 162 game schedule. Maybe a few things added would be nice.

Can we get the schedule listed out as it is in the iphone version?

I would like to see the players logs not get deleted when a player retires.

I would like to see some sort of notice on unique games. If a team score 20 runs or a game goes 18 innings. A pitcher throws a 1 hitter. Right now unless you scan every box score you will miss most of them.

And records are are meant to be broken yet with OOTP they take a backseat to everything else. They should be kept and saved as they are in DM and others. The almanac is fine but it is seriously lacking in crucial areas.

Haters don't have a cow, I'm not bashing the game. I love this game and play it every day and have been since the beginning. I would just like to see something new.

I'm with you on this. I play this game for 8 hours when I'm working M-F so this feature for me is going to be awesome as i have the time to sit there and mess around in real-time.

Cheers to you Markus for doing something different.
