Perhaps it could start out with the top-level headings corresponding to the the sections of the OOTP (v11, for now) manual? This would get things started, at least, and would then provide a nice framework for people to refer to the Wiki as a "manual behind the manual" when the official documentation still leaves questions (as if that ever happens!).

Sorry about that. I meant to disable the mandatory 50 word bio and apparently forgot to do so. All day at work, I kept logging in periodically to approve requests and only noticed the problem then. I will disable that aspect of the registration now that I am home.

I agree that this would be a good place to start. If anyone wants to take the initiative to create those pages (even if there is just placeholder content on them for now), please do so!

(As a side note, I do think that it is important that we don't simply re-produce the documentation unless we are given explicit permission to do this from the company. I don't want the Wiki to trespass on OOTP Developments' copyright in the documentation. That said, I don't think there is anything wrong with following the same outline and writing our own (more in depth) content.)

This is now set to minimum 1 word - hopefully a more manageable task.

If I can figure out how, I will remove the "Real Name" and "Biography" fields altogether. I must confess that although I've done a lot of web development in my time, I have never run MediaWiki on my server before, so there is a bit of a learning curve for me in terms of figuring out how all the extensions work.

For those who have already registered for accounts, please feel free to introduce yourself on the discussion page for the Project Roadmap.

If you are new to editing wikis, I have created a simple sandbox page that you can use to see how wiki code works and experiment with it. Feel free to edit that page to your heart's content. I will revert it to its original state from time to time so the changes you make there won't be permanent.

Actually I wrote the alphabet one and about another half times after my sentences since I ran out of ideas. It treated each letter as a word.

By way of a general update, we now have some categories set up:

OOTP 12 Documentation
General Baseball Information (for example, deinitions of various statistics)
OOTP Developments (information about the game, patches, the company, the history of the game, etc.)

Within each category are some starter articles and some sub-categories that can serve as a starting point for content creation. A number of users are already registered for the site, and so far we've received contributions from at least four different users.

My advice to anyone wanting to contribute is to just throw yourself into it and start creating new articles on the wiki (PM me if you need any technical help). We can always edit and re-organize later.

Thank you to everyone who has shown an interest so far, and keep those updates coming!

I'm still getting the "Incorrect confirmation code" error. I'm using google chrome, so I'll try it in firefox and see if that works.

Hmm... I'm not sure what would be cause that. I'll take a look at it tonight and see if I can fix it. Unfortunately, I'm now at work so it won't be until later tonight.

I'm not hardcore baseball fan and new to OOTP, but under 'General Baseball Information', specifically statistics, I would like a list and definition of all stat acronyms the game uses. I know most (or can find them), but some in the game stump me and it would be nice to have them listed (unless this is done in the manual, but still)

Actually, your account was approved. I'm not sure why you didn't get an email although, with all the trouble I'm having with the registration system, I guess that's just one more thing I need to fix.

I agree! I've started to create just a small handful of stat-related articles here. I'm hoping that someone more knowledgeable than myself (especially when it comes to more modern, Sabermetric stats) can help flesh that category out.
