And with the same sample size, how can you argue that it will be solid? Wheeler, Reyes and Jenks all have questions. Why didnt anyone else give Jenks a shot as a closer? The role he certainly wants. Wheeler has always been erratic. I believe that Reyes is supposedly looking quite good tho.

I do expect Bard to be solid, and I completely admit that I've no idea what to expect from Paps. And all those reasons are why I don't feel confident about this team.
What questions do you have on Wheeler, Reyes and Jenks? Wheeler has been as consistent as you can be over the last 5 seasons for any reliever not named Mariano Rivera. Reyes' last 3 seasons have been of similar quality, especially considering he's been used as a LOOGY for about 35 innings per year. Jenks had a 4.44 ERA last year, but with peripheral stat that look better than that: 3.5:1 K/BB, only 3 HR's allowed in about 55 innings (was he giving up a few big innings to mess with his ERA?). No one wanted to pay him big-time closer money, so the Sox ponied up pseudo-closer money for him to be a set-up guy/Papelbon insurance policy. Averages for each over the last 3 years:

Jenks 3-3, 3.54, 56IP, 52H, 16BB, 49K
Wheeler 4-5, 3.24, 57, 40, 16, 48
Reyes 2-1, 3.02, 42, 36, 19, 32

I was not aware that Wheeler, Jenks and Reyes numbers were that good over the last three seasons.

Mostly i remember Wheeler's 07 with Hou/TB. he was great with Houston, but bombed with Tampa. He finished with 70 games a 5.30 ERA and a 1.30 Whip. The prior two seasons his ERA was 2.50 (or so) and under.

Jenks' WHIP has been too high to my taste the last couple of seasons (not sure of the exact numbers), but I suppose his ability to strike batters out outweighs that.

Reyes has been great since coming to the AL. Other than looking like he won an eating contest vs. Joba Chamberlain, he's doing well in Spring Training.

I hope you are right and they surpass my expectations.

I am excited about all things Red Sox this season....except a hideous promotional rap video the club just made. (Yes, I'm serious ). It is the worst thing the team has ever done, and that includes selling Babe Ruth. I keep rubbing acid into my eyes and ears to remove all traces of what I saw and heard of it, but it's not working. If any of the top management (who I generally think are great) approved that mess, they should place a written apology on the club website ASAP.

And no I'm not linking to it.

NO.
