Honestly I'm a little concerned with the entire hush hush from beta testers to developers this year, previous versions had beta teasers and such.Guess I'll find out next week.

I really wonder how many customers they lost due to the complete lack of information about the game during the preorder process.

Hi folks.

Wow, my own little manual thread. I feel so honored.

Anyway, regarding the OP's question, the manual will not be released early, sadly. OOTP 10's manual is also online, very similar to last year's. (Hey, with that monster, there's no way I'm taking on a full rewrite unless I HAVE to. )

Andreas will likely create some way of getting the entire manual into PDF format for those who wish to download. However, I want to stress that it will NOT be a "formatted for print" manual. It's more likely to be "every single HTML file converted into PDF," if that makes any sense.

By the way, I totally agree with what everyone has to say about the lack of communication this year. We certainly need to do better next year.

Ciao!

Steve

I didnt want to be negative about the teasers etc. because every year is an improvement or better then the prior version, its just something I kept expecting to see when I logged in.
I also understand life and Markus being sick and all.
So anyhow I hope my earlier comment wasnt overly critical.

Steve, it is reassuring to see that you recognize the lack of updates. I would love to see OOTP get a beta tester next year that is not bound by the NDA (or at least less bound). A beta tester whos only job is to write blogs, post screenshots, and answer general OOTP 11 questions. I really think that if you asked, there would be people that would do this for free (or maybe for a free copy of the game).

I would be quite happy with this. I simply want something that I can multitask to without having to go from web page to web page.

True, and it was good of you to admit it.

This response alone made me glad I pre-purchased the game. After owning all previous 9 versions, I admit to being a bit skeptical we were going to have another umm well 6.12 fiasco that a new version was being rolled out for the sake of an annual version.

Just glad someone is paying attention (as usual) and not just checking the pre-orders counter.

Thanks for the previous work done on the manuals Steve. Looking forward to the manual. I'll probably wait and play the game after the first patch comes out. Hopefully the manual (or at least updated portions) will be out before then.

Great to hear we will have an updated manual. Please give us a download option ASAP, as many of us don't maintain constant internet access when using OOTP. Thanks again.

Well, of course, as with last year, the full content of the manual will be available inside the game, even when you don't have an internet connection.

Having an internet connection ensures you will get up-to-date content, however, in the likely event that the manual gets edited or improved over time.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I didn't know the manual was inside OOTP 9. Wish that was the first stupid thing I could claim this week. Thanks for the info.

F1 baby, F1! It's context-sensitive too, so if you press F1 on the transactions page, for example, you'll get the help for the transactions page.

Looks a little better online, IMHO, but it's still cool in-game.

Well since I plan on using the game on a laptop without an internet connection (after installing ID of course) I guess I have no choice but to copy and paste the online manual into WORD.......
