I pre-ordered via Pay-Pal. Here is an excerpt of my receipt (nice math here by the way) ......

Quote:
A charge from Out of the Park Developments GmbH & Co. KG for the amount below will
appear on your credit card statement.

You have purchased product(s) from Out of the Park Developments GmbH & Co. KG
for the total amount of $ 49.99

This is a list of item(s) you purchased:

Out of the Park Baseball 9 PRE-ORDER Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/Vista Download 1 $ 24.99 $ 24.99
OOTP Developments Software CD Windows 98/ME/2000/XP Shipped 1 $ 10.00 $ 10.00
The line items are correct but as you can see the final total did not seem to take into account the $15.00 discount. Whom do I need to speak to to get this rectified?

Anyone else have this happen?......

Well, I just received an email advising me that I could buy OOTP9 at a special rate before it is officially released.

Just like last year.

So, once again, I go the link where I can purchase it, and I see that it still says the game works on Windows 98 (which is what I use).

Okay, last year, I was nice and did not ask for a refund. (And I never got to play a single game.)

But, now I am really beginning to wonder about you guys. Don't you think you have a responsibility to your customers to CORRECTLY TELL THEM WHICH OS THE GAME SUPPORTS?

So, can anyone either confirm that the game does work under Windows98 or will someone please remove that statement from your on-line purchase site.

Thank you.

Why in the world would you want to install OOTP on a dog like Win98? I have a windows 98 and could try it, but the hardware compatibility for the windows 98 stuff means that your PC is probably > 6 years old. I can't imagine sim times are ugh!ly slow. I know that my Win98 box wouldn't be able to sim more than a few years overnight. My advice would be to purchase a new PC a little more with the times. I would also guess that OOTP probably would work on Win98, but that some tweaks may be necessary.

Oh yeah, pre-ordered and can't wait to see the new finances/scouting models.

I don't believe that his post was to illustrate the older operating system that he is using but rather it is very likely that his post was trying to draw attention to the fact that the website says that the new version of the game is compatible with Win98, and in his experience (last year's game), such a statement may not be accurate. I found his request to be reasonable and necessary. Hopefully someone in the "know" will be kind of enough to answer it.

I definately get my dollars worth when buying OOTP software.
Been buying the releases as they arrive for many many years.
I will say that I didn't pick up version (8). I can see the reason
for releasing a version to differentiate the SI baseball game, but
didn't feel it benefited me as a solo player who doesnt play in any leagues.
This new version seems hasty and actual edits have been admitted to
since the screenshots were released last week. The screenshots dont
really cover the meat of what a new version might be about.
Going to hang back on this one. Im absorbed in my current (V.7)
and willing to continue to lose in that game until the baseball powers
that be and possible league-commishes give thier endorsement.

Hoping for the best..and Im sure it will be delivered.

CD Question

I have Windows Vista and noticed that the game works on Windows Vista.

When I went to order the CD as well it showed that the CD does not work with Windows Vista.

Is that correct?

I really look forward to having a version with a real working roster set. Thanks
Westend,

Could you please check this thread regarding issues with the MLB roster set in OOTP 8?

Sir Real, we apologize for the oversight. The game will not run on Windows 98, so I will get that corrected. The supported platforms are Win 2000, Win XP, and Vista. (And Mac OS X)

Thanks very much.

Nope, I'll make sure that gets corrected as well. OOTP 9 will be supported on Win 2000 / Win XP / Win Vista, both in download and in CD form.

Thanks for pointing this out!

I wouldn't even be here anymore if it wasn't for MLB putting an end to compition. Yet another year of hope that customer service would return to OOTP has gone out the window.

The biggest hope with that piece of trash Duffy gone, was that you might actually know what you're buying. He flat out lied about the inclusion of rosters, something that may happen yet again this year.

My favorite tactic this year. "Give us your money now (so we can sit on it and let it collect interst for who knows how long). Then maybe some time by June, we'll actually provide you a full list of features.

Then again, taking the page out of Duffy's book marketing an upgrade as a new version should have foretold what OOTP has become.

Its sad that they can get away with it If it wasn't for MLB killing competition OOTP would be nothing but a memory by now. People would have long ago been fed up with this companies business practices.

How did MLB put an end to competition?

How would MLB doing anything affect OOTP when OOTP doesn't need or try to get licensing from MLB?

Batten down the hatches, mister. There are quite a few people who are going to take exception to your comments. For one thing, where the heck do you get off calling anybody a "piece of trash"?

Wow. I don't even know what to say to this. I'm sorry this franchise has so embittered you. Of course, you certainly can choose to spend your hard-earned cash as you see fit. I would appreciate it, though, if you would attempt to keep your criticism constructive. There's no need to be making personal attacks.

That had zero to do with Marc Duffy. Other people missed deadlines repeatedly on rosters.

I think he's talking about the exclusive agreement between MLB and Take Two for licensing on the MLB 2K series.

Oh, and someone from New Jersey calling another person they don't even know a piece of trash? What are the odds?

P.S. Nothing against other users from New Jersey.

Yeah, I would guess that is it too except it's really not an exclusive deal. Sony makes The Show and there is nothing stopping Micro Soft from making a game for the 360. The agreement for all intents and purposes was designed to keep EA out of the market so he's only here because he can't get an EA made game?
Or if 2k made a pc version it certainly wouldn't add enough depth to compete with OOTP as it would be virtually the same as the console version with possibly the ability to mod it to some extent. Plus there is also Pure Sim and BM, so saying there is no competition is just not true.

Two Questions for OOTP 9

Two questions:

1) What are the minimum and preferred Windows PC System Requirements for OOTP 9?

2) Has the new version addressed the playoff roster transaction system to mimic MLB wherein a player can be transferred between the playoff roster and 40-man roster between playoff series (i.e., Playoff rosters must be set at 25, not including disabled players, on August 31. For each player on the 60-day DL, teams may add players to the eligible list during the playoffs at the same position, provided that they were in the orginization on August 31… Teams must choose 25 players from their playoff eligible list before each round of the playoffs.) This has always been a major annoyance for me in previous versions of OOTP.

Thanks,
DJ

my question with most games the just update why is every update a new version of the game ? i dont mind shelling out 40 bucks but every year this is nuts . most of the stuff in these updated versions could just be addons to the version before .
