The uniforms look fantastic!!!
My only problem with all this is that in the game it appears that national teams like China, Latin countires, ect will have non-chinese and/or non-latin (or what ever other countires we may use in our "World Cup") looking players on their teams. How will we be able to get the Facegen feature to add the necessary/proper faces with the correct teams? That worries me a bit because it would take a lot of work to add the proper looking player to every team in the league. Any ideas? |

The nations.txt file where the nations are all listed has a section for ethnicities, which allows you to define the relative percentage of African, Asian, Caucasian, East Indian, and Hispanic players that come from that nation. Players generated from that nation will then get assigned one of those ethnicities, and facegen will show up accordingly. You have to give your league a home nation. You can then specify the percentage of foreign players that get generated to play in that league. So you could create a Japanese league with 0% foreign players and the players should all look Asian. If you want to do a world cup type league, you'll probably have to go in and manually edit the players to the right teams because you can't tell the game that you only want Dutch players to play for the Netherlands. You probably won't need to do any editing of the nations file unless you have unusual needs (Hobbits, anyone?), but you'll find it in a similar location to this: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\database\nations.txt It's a simply a comma delimited text file that you can edit in notepad or excel.

You know, this is astounding work.
On top of that, apart from the occasional goofy FaceGen, and the questionable realism of the facial hair, every now and then FaceGen comes up with faces that are frankly shocking to me in how much they look like real people. The first three pictures in the first post, from the left, are all incredibly natural-looking players.

I've read that the proportion of orientals in Australia is higher than it is in the U.S. Of course they also have Aborigines, but they really don't look black as we think of it, and I doubt there are many Hispanics there… but I've been wrong before.

![]() Anyway, all of the percentages for face type (loosely, ethnicity) are stored in text files, and all of the player face types can be edited manually as well. |

Thanks, Silvam.
Hmm. 'oriental' would be the equivalent of 'negro', and 'Asian' would be the equivalent of 'African', which is now passe. The equivalent of the modern 'black' would be 'yellow'. I'm thinking it'll be awhile before that one catches on. You're right, it's both PC and OT. I'm out. |

Yes, Asians is the preferred term these days. Your comment here is a bit insensitive. Many people to whom these terms apply do actually care. Sometimes, the terms we use to describe people develop associations over time that those people don't appreciate. Often, there's very valid and good reasons for it. If you've ever spent time in a country where you were part of a racial minority and were routinely referred to by a race describing term that you knew had uncomfortable connotations associated with, then the odds are good that you understand this.

Being an Occidental, we prefer to be called Euro-Americans, I am highly offended.

Like I said, OT. If not giving 2 damns about being 100%PC is insensitive, then call me novocane. Just don't insult my intelligence by telling me the "stranger in a strange land" story. I realize why certain levels of PC exists. I just think it gets blown out of proportion a lot. (Like the HR totals in my 2006 league) Ok, nough said. Sorry for being brash! Cheers!
