If someday it's proven that Aaron or Ruth used enhancements/steroids when they first set the records, then, and only then, would I be of the opinion that Bonds deserves the record.

After all, if Aaron or Ruth cheated in the same way it's alleged that Bonds had been cheating...who knows? The record could be near 950 or 1,000, and Barry would be far from breaking it today. However, we can readily assume Aaron and Ruth weren't on steroids I believe...LOL. But if they were, who can rightly say what the record might be?
Well....I think it is safe to say that the Babe was on "substances" at times when he played. I wonder what it is like to hit a fastball drunk? LOL

I would rather he didn't break the record that's for sure. I don't get as worked up about it as some, but maybe that's because baseball is like my 4th or 5th favorite sport.

A good point that begs the question: If we took away Bonds' choice of enhancement - steroids - and replaced it with Ruth's choice of enhancement - alcohol - would Bonds have ever reached 700 homers?

I don't want to see Bonds break the record, but I also wouldn't want to see him break his leg. He might be a jerk in my eyes, but he's still a human and I don't wish ill on other people. Not even my ex-wife

only with even less caring. With 1994 and the Expos fiasco, MLB brand baseball as vaulted to the basement of "I give a crap" in the sports world.

Hell no! On the other hand, it'd give me yet another reason to despise San Francisco.

Well of course Shawn Merriman would say that: he got caught. Barry has never tested positive so you don't really know if he would say anything different. There's no difference at all, other than the fact that Merriman is an admitted steroid user and Barry an alleged one. You just like Shawm Merriman a lot more.

I'd like to see him do it, but it's not a huge deal to me; a few more homers here and there aren't going to change his career value much and if it weren't for the park he played in he'd have well over 755 anyway.

But he admitted it in front of the Federal Grand Jury.

No, he admitted to something that was very likely steroid use. You think it was, I think it was, it still isn't a positive test.

He won't so it doesn't really matter. I still don't think Aaron should've passed Ruth but oh well.

Eh? Why not? To the latter statement, not the former (though I'd be amazed if Bonds didn't break the record, that's a pretty bold prediction).

But he did it, and he admitted it. What other proof is needed? He might had gone off the juice once they started testing full time in 2004.

But, see, he didn't admit it. That's my point.

Yes, they are two different sentences. Of course, I have never heard anyone say the second one.
