I don't know how useful this would be unless they put in a more true manager mode. As it works now, without a legitimate "apply for job" process, managers would be all over the place. It also seems as though this year's version arbitrarily hires/fires computer managers. I'd imagine that this will improve in the future and become similar to the other SI titles. I just hope it's sooner rather than later since this is how I spend the vast majority of my time playing the game.

You also would need to allow the Commissioner to do the hiring/firing of managers, especially in a historical sim where you want everything to be replicated as what actually happened (ie. Connie Mack as manager of the Philadelphia Athletics from 1901-1950, for example).

I am personally very happy this game doesn't require bullpen warmups. I love the idea of just putting a guy in there when I'm ready, seems like there's enough to worry about already without forgetting to have a lefty warm for the top of the 7th. I'm sure you could include a feature of making it optional seeing how you guys are freaking amazing at creating baseball games!!

Also in CatoBase, and not exactly in 6.5, but:
- postseason leaderboards
- progressive leaderboards

(And I know Markus has already said this would have to wait, but you asked! )

I was wondering, would it be possible to use the enter key? By this, I mean when a window pops up and asks for something, like "Are you sure you want to release him?" I would like to be able to use the enter key, as my computer is a laptop and I like using key functions.

Also, when I am on the minor league screen for my team, everytime I move a player, it goes back to the top 4 clubs of my system. Can the game remember when I am working with the lower two? I liked the old 6.5 screen when it showed all teams at once. I'm aware we cannot go back to that one, thats why if the new screen had memory, it'd be a lot better. Thanks!!

Well, it's always been optional so you can turn yours off, if you buy the game.

As far as it being useless I don't agree. It makes me think ahead when playing my game, which adds immersion and enjoyment for me. I would much rather the AI bring in whoever it wants whenever it wants than not handle warming up properly.

I don't want to read post where the human team was up one and the AI hits a 2 run hr in the top of the ninth with two outs to take the lead and then the AI doesn't have it's closer ready because it didn't start warming him up when the possible go ahead run came to the plate.

Someone will say "but LaRussa had it or Weaver had it years ago". So what. Until this game can do it right don't add it. But don't let that stop Markus from bringing it back for the human player. First it would probably take him about a half hour to program as he's done it before. And second, as I've already said. it will more than likely be optional so no harm to those that don't like it.

Oh, yeah 6.5 things that are missing? How about the seven day lineups.

the whole trading system in 6.5 was really a great asset to the game. it is/was the best trading system in any baseball sim i have played. something like it is absolutely essential.

i like to play out the games for my team so i feel qualified to make suggestions on the current method. ootp has never had a great system for playing out games. but i have never thought much about pitch-by-pitch. it sounds great but in practice never has been a big hit in any game that i know of because it just slows down the action. it is an ok option but the best option is to be able to manage or watch in play-by-play. this is really important to those who want to watch the games unfold. pitch-by-pitch is a good option for the 9th or last inning.

one game screen of the 3 should be as large a field as you can get. the broadcast screen could be easily adapted to get a nice large field w/o taking off any of the info off that screen.

there is info such as ball park dimensions on the webcast that could be relegated to pull-up and taken off screen to allow for larger font on other stats on the screen.

I would be happy with either but I prefer shop player to trading block.

I haven't played this game in years, so I missed out on 6.5, but a trading block would be very welcome if only so I can see who the computer is shopping.

How about a poll for each one of these.

When watching a game could we please have the option to just have the payoff pitch instead of every pitch and if we still want to pause the game so lets say play out the final inning pitch by pitch. I for one do not want to watch a whole game pitch by pitch, I do not have that kind of time, but watching a game with just the payoff pitch would suit me fine. I like the pause option.

I like having the pitch-by-pitch option....but I think the classic full AB result should be the default setting and pitch-by-pitch should be the option we can enter into. With no one on base...I never use pitch-by-pitch. With a big lead or trailing by a ton...I also never use pitch-by-pitch. When I want my closer or ace pitcher to just focus on the batter...I don't use pitch-by-pitch.

On the flipside....games that are standings relevant...I will use/want pitch-by-pitch at times. For postseason games...I will use/want pitch-by-pitch. I could also see myself using it some for guys going for milestones like 500, 600, 700 HR clubs...or guys with no-hitters in the 9th etc.

I basically wish the functionality of both were there as options and that the old full at bat result was the default, so we could do things such as hold runners etc, but still have the ability to go into pitch-by-pitch in certain situations. I don't want or see myself using pitch-by-pitch from the start to end of games now or in the future. Its not that it can't be entertaining...its more of the time factor and how long it would take to play out a season which is my preferred method for playing OOTP.
