It's been stated that there will be roster packs within days, maybe even hours, of the release of OOTP 2006. I don't think you'll have to wait long at all to get 2006 rosters.

I overcome this. I start a fictional league and sim ~88 years, stopping every 20 or so to make era adjustments. Within a year or two of year 89, I pick one team kinda at random and start simming it week by week. I'm pretending to be five years old and just starting to develop a fan-relationship with the team near "my" hometown. As "I" grow older, I shorten the simming time as "I" become more and more interested in the sport until "I"'m about 11 or so, when I start simming every day.

By the time "I"'m 17, I know my favorite team, I'm pretty familiar with the rich history of my near-century-old league, I know who the stars are and were, which teams have dominated and are strong now, and generally have a good feel for the baseball world "I" live in.

Then, in the season of "my" 18th year, I create "me" as a super-stud prospect and take over the team that drafts "me." My only hard-coded house rule is that I must always manage "me." If I switch teams, "I" must follow. I've yet to fail to arrange an AI-acceptable trade for "me," so I've never had to force the issue via cheating. But if I have to, I will ...
