Plus BART runs to Fremont, but not San Jose (yet).

I actually knew that. It's why I put an expansion team for the new Hybrid League there.

The Dublin/Pleasanton A's!

And I second Skippy's East Bay A's if they do move. Though it seems like every year for like the last decade these San Jose rumors come back.

I think the Pittsburg A's of San Jose would create a lot more confusion.

I'd love it either way. I'm closer to San Jose then to Fremont but it's better then driving to Oakland. Of course, where would the ballpark go in San Jose? I do like that idea of using the land by the amusement park. They still use the "Oakland" name if they move to Fremont, it's close enough.

If they do move to Fremont then the name "The San Jose A's of Fremont" would actually be symmetrical.

I wouldn't be surprised if that is the logic, especially if you would it on the northern outskirts of Fremont, rather than southern.

Still, East Bay A's has the best ring.

Well, the Coliseum is pretty sucky nowadays. It was my favorite stadium in baseball until Mt. Davis was built. Short of tearing it down ... nothing can save it. Besides, the Raiders aren't going anywhere. Once Al Davis croaks, the Raiders will get their new stadium.

The Coliseum would suck a lot less if they didn't tarp off the entire upper deck.

The view of the Oakland hills from inside the park use to be beautiful. I've only been to one A's game since Mount Saint Loser was built, and I will never return until the Faiderettes leave.

Actually the Coliseum is great for football. I've spoken with many people who said Mt. Davis seats are great for an overhead perspective of a football game, which probably explains their cost. In my only Raiders game experience, I sat a few rows from the Raiders sideline. Very nice, but those seats are horrible for baseball.

The optimal is having a baseball stadium at the Coliseum-Arena complex, which has been one of the floated concepts. Basically the Warriors keep the arena, the Raiders keep the existing Coliseum (with greater freedom for football only modifications) and the A's get the new baseball stadium. The parking issue would be solved with a parking structure. The thing is that this is how it is done in many cities, where there are multiple sports facilities at a single site.

If the A's stay in Oakland, I've always been partial to a Jack London Square area venue or something near City Center.

When have they done that? The old bowl upper deck seats are a steal and I've actually found them to be a decent seat for the price. They don't even tarp off the Mt. Davis seats and occasionally use those seats for games against the Yankees, Giants, playoffs, etc. Should the A's reach a WS, those seats would be filled ... albeit at a hefty premium.

If you look at the fan base, there are many who come out from places like Fremont, Castro Valley, Hayward, Pleasanton, Dublin, Livermore, Tracy, Manteca, Stockton, Sacramento, Modesto, etc. I've followed people there and back from Manteca. I can't say that about the times I've been to Giants games, though I've seen it on occasion. There is a reason why Sacramento and Stockton are home to A's minor league teams.

What's funny is that San Jose's baseball team is a Single A club and is an affiliate of ... the Giants.

Fremont seems the most likely choice, but I think that if the A's have their way the City of Oakland will get off its duff.

It's new for this year. Dumb move if you ask me. I always liked sitting in the upper deck and it was fun having an entire section to myself. "Fan friendly" my ass - they just want to make it look more full.

And they're not even opening the upper deck for big series like the Yankees and Giants, which is why Opening Day sold out so fast. Sucks because I'm going to be in town April 1 - 4.
