In a key move toward converting the Houston Texans' defense to a 4-3 front, the team on Saturday reached an agreement with highly regarded defensive end Anthony Weaver, an unrestricted free agent who had played his entire four-year career with the Baltimore Ravens.

Contract details of the multi-year deal were not immediately available. But league sources said Weaver, a player clearly targeted by the Texans for an early free agency strike, could sign a deal that averages in the $5 million range and includes an eight-figure signing bonus.
As soon as these terms are released I'll have them posted.

In non-FA transaction news, the 49ers traded wide receiver Brandon Lloyd to the Redskins for a third and fourth round pick. Personally, I think that's a huge addition for Washington who was in dire need of adding a second receiver behind Santana Moss.

Don't worry, Matt Schobel will lead the Eagles to Super Bowl XLI.

Schobel will receive a 5-year contract from the Eagles, but I'm not sure for how much. He'll sign on Monday.

Chester Taylor and Ben Leber both signed with the Vikings, but there's no terms for those deals yet.

Longwell signed a 5 yr/10 mil contract with the Vikes as well.

BAL signed Trevor Pryce to a 5 yr/ 25 mil contract.

The move should be good for Lloyd, too. He won't be the only talented offensive skill position player on the Redskins! Cooley, Moss, Lloyd, Portis.. not bad, not bad at all. =)

The Cardinals made a big splash in the free-agent market Sunday, agreeing in principle to a contract with running back Edgerrin James, a source close to the team told ESPN.com.

James' deal is for four years, the Arizona Republic reported, although financial terms were not immediately available.

Maybe he figures Warner won't get the "deer in headlights" syndrome if they reach the postseason.

4-years, 30 million for James.

First Glover and Chavous, now this. I guess they actually want to play a little defense this year.

I'm not sure how much I like this signing. I think he might be a product of having other great players around him.

6 years, 33 million for Witherspoon.

I was just saying to Jeremy Weimer that, as an actual receiver, Lloyd is better than Randle El, who works better as the slot guy anyway. You think that's how they'll use them?

Here's a big one.

Vikings sign Steve Hutchinson to an offer sheet worth 7 years, 49 million.

That's cool. Now the question is: which quarterback is he going to protect?

(And don't the Seahawks now have the option of matching that offer?)
