Gold league:
Mad Brewers cruising to the OL crown (haven't bothered to check remaining games, but seriously doubt there are enough games left for them to fall/Waffletown or Brooklyn to catch them) as they bumped their winning pct up to .814. Overall, Silly with a silly-sized 40.5 game lead in the NC East (110-24 record ); Brooklyn and Port Ruppert hold down wild card spots in the NC. Doubtful any OL teams will crawl back into playoff contention with Waffletown being the closest at 9.5 games back of the last WC spot.

I will make OL MVP and Cy Young awards tomorrow--feel free to vote! Route 66's Ichiro and Otsego's Hornsby lead their MVP races with Algoma's DeGrom and Gear Terrace's Cy Young leading the Cy Young.
Perhaps rename the pitching award to the Denton True award, to avoid the confusion of Cy winning the Cy? |

This has been the craziest of seasons! The Mad Brewers are a good gold team but 132 wins is amazing.
Perhaps I should take some weeks off more often!

Diamond
Knockemstiff take the crown! They also rode a hot start to the season to their first survival in Diamond for a few months.
After the OL teams had very similar records for most of the season, Cary will be the only team in the playoffs. Nowhere lost their game 163 decider, then Paxville won their 163rd game, but lost games 164 and 165... Good luck to Cary in the playoffs! |

Silver 406
The HelthWyzer Crakes went into the month with a small lead and then swept second place Algoma Penguins to start the month. This built them a 3.5 game lead. That was not enough as the Penguins, who started the month 2-5 in OL play, then went on a 17-1 tear to win the OL title by a good margin.
Daytona Beach's Don Sutton pitched a two hit shutout over Gettysburg to earn OL's Performance of the Month. Cleveland Gray's Ken Griffey ended up as MVP with an OPS of .854 along with stellar defence (only 2 errors and a zone rating over 12!) in the AC. The MVP in the NC also combined stellar defense with great hitting to earn the honors. Otsego Lake Monsters' Jackie Robinson, playing primarily at SS, hit .289 with and OPS of .793 while also covering a zone rating of 8.9 and committing only 7 errors. The Denton True Award winner in the AC won 21 games and struck out 255--Helthwyzer's Jacob Degrom. In the NC, Gear Terrace's Cy Young wins the Denton True Award with 19 wins, a WHIP of only 1.07 and a 2.66 ERA. OL teams end up with 5 playoff teams. The top 2 OL teams won their divisions as did the Babel Librarians. Route 66 Hot Rods and Otsego Lake Monsters are in the favored WC position. The Asylum Keepers lost their coin toss and are among the 4 OL teams relegated (Inland Empire luckily won that coin toss and are not relegated). |

Gold league: I'd say the Mad Brewers coasted to the OL and NC East divisional crowns, but you don't win 132 games by "coasting" Overall, three OL teams in the post season. The bad news is, the other two are both wild cards (Brooklyn and Port Ruppert), so the winner there plays Silly in the LDS. Only one OL team will earn Diamond promotion for next season. Also had a small bit of drama at the end of the season in the AC. Unexpectedly, the wild card race actually became a race, as Seattle and Waffletown both made late charges down the stretch. It came down to the final series, as the Syrups played a 4 game series against the team holding the 2nd WC spot. Waffletown was 4 games back at the time, so needed a sweep to pull into a tie (but only managed to split the series 2-2 and finish 2 games back). Seattle managed to finish just 1 game back (if only they could have picked up one more win or the Syrups taken one more in that final series...) at the relegation end: -Coney Island -Sonora HS -Keystone |

Happy New Year all. Logged into the Warriors for the first time today since I dropped out and started spending my remaining points. I check this thread periodically and it seems the last few weeks the Warriors were just barely hanging on in gold and now this week I find them relegated to silver (first trip back to silver in 24 weeks). I went for pitching because its the low hanging fruit and I don't want to spend too much time on it. The one position I will look to upgrade is third base. When I was all in playing PT I had been looking to upgrade from Pie Traynor (who was my first diamond card and has been with the team since 2026). Previously I could never find an upgrade that in my opinion was worth the spend. I am going to log in again later and see if I can spend the last 260K I have.
I haven't logged into Sugar Hill in about a month. I did a bit in the beginning to complete the theme. I will probably give them another week or two and see what they have points wise and look to cash in my points there as well. All the best everyone! |

See you later...
With updates on movement. It's again been proven that my pleas for Bronze stats gained no purchase, so there's no point in waiting to finish the OL season awards. I won't make any bold pronouncements about covering bronze next week, now that my two see-saw teams have bounced back down. I tried that two weeks ago, but the league sorting genie heard me and blew the bronze teams to smithereens. If we get lucky, I'll see that we get our first bronze crown in a long time. Good luck to those still playing.

third base is a spot Waffletown could use a bump in as well (just don't have the points to nab the players who would do the job).... looking to just complete the Chipper Jones mission as it would probably be cheaper than trying to buy him from the AH when he shows up |

What an exciting end-of-season!
Quote:
So the AC East was definitely the most "stacked" division in all of D366, Even the fifth place team there had a winning record. I really thought, looking at that division at the beginning of the season, that Cary would not make playoffs this year (and much of the season I thought it likely we would be relegated). The team that finished in first place in that division (Adirondack LOLCats-BFF) has two of the recent "mega-historical" cards that go for millions of PP on AH: Pedro Martinez and Babe Ruth. And yet they ended the season at only 92-70 due to the difficulty of that division. Somehow we still made second place in that division by a hair: I still don't know why: at the beginning of June we were only 27-29. One last observation: this is the first time I think in diamond league that we had an OL champion and no OL teams got .relegated! In fact, every OL team had a winning record. This was particularly tough after getting matched up (again ***sigh***) with BFF. Since there will be exactly one team moving up from gold, there should be five OL teams in Diamond next season.

Gold playoffs:
Brooklyn defeats Port Ruppert in an ultimate pitching duel by the score of 1-0 in 10 innings (walk-off win via a Joe Mauer double, scoring Jackie Robinson all the way from first base ala Enos Slaughter's mad dash in the 1946 WS) |

and if we're handing out MVP / PoY awards at each tier in OL, you can't really go wrong picking any of these for both at the Gold level:
(edit - Mad Brewer's starting staff, if that wasn't already obvious) |

just finished the Boston FH missions, so Waffletown will be welcoming Teddy Ballgame to the roster.... Oscar Charleston will be sent to the reserves to make room.
Nice career for Charleston with the Syrups over 25 years: 3513 games, 3525 hits, 1971 runs scored, 553 home runs, 1965 RBIs, 1201 stolen bases |
