Oh man, if this goes 30 years, I don't know what I'm going to do. I was born in 1984, so not only do I know what it's like to lose, I don't know what it's like to ever win. One of these teams has to, and soon. The law of averages says so.
That being said, Kaz Matsui has made my list, alongside Tom Brady, Shaq, Sergei Fererov, Deion Branch, Kobe Bryant and the like. While I find it odd that anyone who's played the Phillies makes this list, at least he didn't cost us the championship, or else he would end up in Joe Carter territory. What? I was 9 when that happened. I was bitter, dammit! |

I was born in 84 as well. I'm a Villanova fan but I can't count the 85 title and I understand they aren't exactly a popular team in the inner city so it's not like all of Philly is behind them or anything.
That being said, I recommend becoming a Nova fan if you aren't. They probably have the best chance of a title in the next 5 years. |

I realize this is pretty OT for this thread but I'm going to keep ranting about this subject....
Outsiders think it's the 24 year drought that makes it so hard. It's really not the 24 years, it's the fact that in those 24 years the Flyers have lost in the Stanley Cup finals 3 times. They have also lost in the Eastern Conference Finals 4 times. Going by just the regular season, this has been one of the top 3 franchises in the NHL the last 30 years, yet they haven't won a title since 75. On to the Sixers. The Sixers haven't been great the last 24 years but they did make an NBA finals and lost. The Eagles have won 6 division titles during this drought and have lost a Super Bowl and 3 conference title games. The Phillies have lost a World Series. In the last 24 years, the 4 Philly franchises are a combined 0-6 in championship games/series and aren't much better in conference championship play. All of these franchises have had a legitimate shot at winning something and have come up short. You would think that just ONE of them ONE YEAR would have gotten it done, but no. At least Cleveland fans go into every year knowing they have no chance. But who knows, the Indians are looking pretty good right now. |

A World Series?
(Er, n/m, I thought you were going back 30 years, and not just since the last Philly title of any kind)

Dude, it's embarassing enough to list the last 24 years. Going all-time would have sunk me into such a deep state of depression that I may have never recovered. The records in a championship game/series for Philly teams is abysmal and that's being kind. |
