Try uninstalling and reinstalling Java.

This is a great program but I'd like to point out one glitch I encountered in hopes that the dev will devise an improvement for it.

I was trying to generate a properly unbalanced 162-game schedule for 2 divisions of 7 teams, with 20 games per divisional opponents (6x20=120 games) and 6 games per subleague opponent (7x6=42 games).

Ideally, it would generate one 3-game home series and a 3-game road series for subleague series. The divisional series are best as 3, 3 and 4 game series at home and on the road.

The program could not generate a schedule if I selected a "preferred" 3-game series.

If I used a preferred series of 4 games, the divisional opponents would have 12/8 home/road splits, which is obviously not ideal.

Ultimately, I used a preferred series of 2 games, so divisional opponents now have five two-games at home and on the road. Curiously, it handled the subleague series fine, generating 3-game series at home and on the road.

I will probably edit the generated file to fix the divisional series, but I was hoping this test case may be of interest to the dev

Odd numbers of teams per division don't work well with this program. Thankfully, a hand-created schedule for this already exists, which I've attached below. Credit for this one goes to gmo.

Thank you! That's great. It shaves a few days off of the longer schedule that I had with the 2-game series.

As I was fumbling through the program-generated schedule, I could quickly see the issue with the odd number of teams :P

is it possible to have random days off throughout the year by team, instead of a specific day that the whole league is off?

You'll have to do that manually.

This lack of editing schedules has basically put a stop to the game for me.

Once you've installed Java (free download from Oracle), don't change any of the filenames.

1. Open settings.ini. It's very well documented inside.
2. Adjust the schedule parameters to your liking. (You can use TextEdit, but BBEdit makes it easier for me, and it's free)
3. Save the file.
4. Copy the pathname of the folder you've got this app stored in by doing a get info on the FOLDER and selecting the pathname from that window (see Pic)
5. Open the Terminal.
6 Type cd, a space, and paste the pathname you just copied. This tells the Terminal where to look.
7. Type "chmod +x run.sh" without the quotes. This tells the Terminal the script hs permission to be run. This is where a lot of us were falling down. Mac OS is Unix based, and therefor all about permissions.
8. Type "sh run.sh" without the quotes.

9. Follow the prompts as it runs. Don't forget to use the write command before you exit the Terminal, or your script won't be saved!

10. Schedule is written to the same folder the Java app is in.
Thank you so much for this, finally got it working on Mac.

I would love to know how to use the generator he made. I can't get it to spread 17 games out from April to September!

I can't get it to work at all, even after installing Java?

Hi all,

I've been able to get the Schedule Generator to work pretty well with all my other leagues, but I just created one with only one subleague, four divisions of five teams apiece, in which I intended for each division to only play within itself for 120 games. It is going extremely poorly—I keep getting an error that the league is "a different structure" when I attempt to import the schedule file into OOTP 23.

After checking, I saw that OOTP 23 considers the league to have a "T20" structure, rather than "D1T5_D2T5_D3T5_D4T5" etc., and if I try to create a schedule along those lines, there's just no divisions anymore; teams play willy-nilly within their subleague. Any advice on this one?

This schedule should be tagged as unbalanced. Have you double-checked that?

Huh! I did at one point have it as unbalanced (I remember I had to uncheck it in OOTP because it was "BGN" on the header) but I must've had it set as "T20" at that point. It worked. Thank you!

Schedule Generator for 1 division

I am using the schedule generator but whenever I generate a schedule for one division when I try to import it into the game it says I am using the wrong league structure. Does anyone have any advice?

Try using the header from a game-generated schedule.

Shot in the dark here, but I have no other idea how to resolve this: I'm using the schedule generator with a standard MLB divisional structure (2 leagues, 3 divisions per league, 5 teams per division), albeit with some teams moved around to different divisions.

When I run the schedule generator using the default params that are in the MLB file included in the .zip, it ends up creating a schedule where a handful of teams play a single team in their division nearly twice as often as they should (i.e. playing 3 teams in the division 16 times, but the fourth 32 or 33 times).

Oddly, this is exactly what happened when I let Out of the Park generate the schedule last year. I'm totally clueless on how to resolve this and have zero interest in building a schedule by hand. Any ideas on what I should be troubleshooting?
