I like my speedsters too, except this season where they can't pick up much Ws. Anyone of you have some tips on how to optimize the SB:CS ratio? PM's fine too if you prefer that.

I use a sophisticated technique to adjust my SB:CS ratio. When I first get a player I set it to where I think it should be. Then after a season or so, I look at his ratio. If he's getting caught too much, I crank it down one notch. If not, I leave it alone.
No need to thank me for that advice!

OL S300 - We Have a Race
The Victoria Vikings still lead, but they have finally revealed themselves to be human, which sets up the possibility of an exciting crown chase. With that in mind, I've posted the remaining schedule as well. Eight of the OL teams play their last games against other OL-ers. Sanguine finishes with 19 OL games, Sad Hill with 12. CliffMarkle, Sept. 24th, and Las Vegas, Sept. 28th, are the only OL teams that don't play until at least Oct. 1st. I think it was Bette Davis, or maybe Katherine Hepburn, who said, "Strap yourself in, it's going to be a bumpy ride." By the way, if you click on the schedule, it'll open in a new window. I only mention it because I didn't realize that for the longest time.

Diamond league update:
With only a handful of OL games played, Green Lake maintains their solid lead in the standings. overall.... Green Lake leads the NC East division by 6.5 games with their 48-31 record. In the NC Central, Seattle Endless Summer has moved into the top spot at 42-39, 1 game ahead of the 2nd place team; and 2 games ahead of OL rival Roncalli. In the NC West, the Seattle Pilots sit in 2nd place, just 1.5 games back of the lead at 44-37 (and currently in the top wild card spot). In the AC Central, Waffletown maintains their lead in the division at 48-31, 6.5 games ahead of the 2nd place team. In the AC West, Transylvania has fallen off the pace a bit, dropping 7.5 games back of the lead with a 41-42 record; but with almost half a season remaining, there's plenty of time to make a move to the top. |

B204 Mid-Season Standing
It's a battle between the red hot Hampton Road Rush(with crazy winning streak of 10-0, 4-0 and 3-0 against three OL teams) and the bamboo chewing, ball smashing Pablo Panda(no 100% win rate against any OL team, but have strong performance against all OL teams) for the crown. Unless both of them drastically fall off in the second half, the others are unlikely to catch on.
P.S. I know the W/L column is off by 1. I double checked everything and could not find the anomaly. Since this is not the final standing, I decided to just not care about it. Hopefully it goes away by the next standing. Last edited by Goliathus; 07-04-2019 at 11:01 AM. |

New "Old" Plan Emerges from Young-Gofannon Confab
Attachment 634639Port Ruppert bellwether, Cy Young, asked for a closed door meeting with manager Luke Gofannon to discuss the tailspin that has been the Mundys' current campaign. Luke the Loner had summarily dispatched nearly the entire roster to the minors, signing a raft of "old tyme" free agents that the venerable skipper hoped would be more in tune with Young's turn of the century approach to the diamond wars. It has not gone well.
Young, for his part, though appreciative of the respect it demonstrated, seemed burdened by the perception that his recent presence with the team had created an atmosphere that one scribe described as "Cy's way, or the highway." The stalwart righty finally approached his skipper and, in the meeting alluded to above, told Gofannon that he had no preference for any particular era of ballplayer as teammates. He also said that, "...the boys shipped out had earned their stripes. Let the new "old-timers" do the same. Besides, the only real difference is that one group spits pumpkin seed shells, and the other, tobacco juice." Old Gold cigarettes obviously had insider information, as they released three new cards for the Mundy collection in packs on sale immediately after the meeting. The Patriots are trying to solidify their status as the only real competition for the Victoria Vikings in the NC West this week, and at 52-33, they are keeping the pressure on. Offense has regressed to being a massive problem, but the pitching has returned to form in a big way, with Tom Glavine leading the way at 10-5 and a 2.28 ERA, which puts him 3rd in the entire league behind Cy Young (1.96) & Steve Carlton (1.68).
Patriots brass have been racking their brains about how to get their offense going, but have had zero success in the matter. In particular, the team is trying really hard to get new boy Jim Gilliam (.243, 1 HR, 8 RBI) going, as well as underachieving DH Harry Walker (.259, 0 HR, 31 RBI). It is also believed that the team have run out of patience with perennial underachiever Al Dark (.241, 4 HR, 40 RBI). Management is reported to have said that if Dark cannot push his average into the .260's by the end of the season, he will be sold. |

Hey Stanley, slightly off topic but do you collect real cards? Just curious. I love those T205 cards in real life. I have 6.

The cards I have Autos were non existent. I did start collecting some current cards but I do like the vintage cards. Some cards that I have. T205's are I think around 1910 and T206 cards are 1909 I think. T205 Jack Quinn Chief Bender Hal Chase Zack Wheat Clyde Milan Miller Huggins T206 Wllie Keeler Jim Delahanty Fred Snodgrass Fred Merckle Cy Seymour Doc White Chief Myers Rube Marquard Tommy Leach John McGraw Clark Griffith Anyway, sorry for the diversion. My wife doesn't care so I have a limited audience for sharing my card passion.

Victoria Rights the Ship in OL S300
The Vikings won 7 of 9 to lengthen their lead, while Daytona Beach streaked into contention. Port Ruppert actually had the best month, going 8-2.

Diamond league update:
Transylvania sneaks into the lead with their limited OL play to this point (only 6 games, with 6 more to go in September) and passes Green Lake by percentage points. overall picture.... in the NC, teams from OL have taken the top spots in all three divisions with 2 months to go. Green Lake has extended their NC East lead to 9.5 games. The race in the NC Central the Seattle Endless Summer holds onto the top spot, but the race remains tight with only 8 games separating first from last place. In the NC West, the Seattle Pilots have moved into the division lead by 2 games. In the AC Central, Waffletown maintains their 6.5 game lead over the 2nd place team, despite a shaky start to the second half. In the AC West, Transylvania is still trying to find a positive groove to move into contention, and has fallen 10 games back of the division lead. |

Luckily my wife loves my card collecting. Her own collection is a notebook full of Nolan Ryan cards, She has just about every Ryan card including all the gimmick ones from his rookie card to his last Ranger card in her notebook. One of our grandsons is named Aaron Ryan for Henry Aaron and Nolan Ryan, two of our absolute favorites. I lost the argument to name one of my granddaughters Ruth.
