dola.. Is there a better name in the majors than D'Angelo Jimenez? I don't know why, but I love that name. I prefer to pronounce that J as an H though and I notice some pronounce it as a J. The Spanish would pronounce it as an H, right?

There is no acceptable reason to pronounce it as a J. I actually don't think I've ever heard that, but I have heard some really bad bastardizations of the Latin player names.

Hmm, I've heard it several times. I can't remember by whom, but I know I have because it's bugged me every time. Maybe we just have sportscasters up here who are too lazy to learn how to pronounce names correctly.

Looks like Harden's wild 7 pitches to start the game have effectively taken away the knees and corners for him for the rest of the game.

Edit: Belt or higher is also a ball, apparently.

Whew. Crisis averted, for that inning at least.

I was always taught the opposite of what Pinella was just saying. Every coach I ever had said to pick a spot on the batter's box and stay there for the duration of your time against that pitcher. You want to get a look at the pitcher from 1 location so you can time him, figure out the arm angle, etc. Moving around in the box after each pitch makes it a lot harder to do this.

The more I watch baseball, the more I'm convinced that nobody in the game has any clue about anything. Everybody has a different opinion on everything.

I'm kind of glad I'm not watching this.

As much as I've disliked some of things Rogers has done in the past, for some reason I can't help but want to see him be successful and lead the Tigers to a World Series win.

Wow, some nice looking plays by Kotsay this last inning.

Saved at least a run with those catches in CF ...

Hope he can do it at the plate, too ...

This season no doubt. But Moreno has promised to open the checkbook this offseason and they will probably trade for Vernen Wells. And Colon will be back next season.

Wells is a FA, no?

Angels' promise is in their prospects, and they would be well advised to keep an eye on their development over throwing indiscriminately at big-priced FAs. Kendrick, Wood, Morales, Mathis look all to be solid or better major leaguers.

Just like they were going to trade for Tejada at the deadline, right?

Man, I'm sure glad that Jimenez is taking care of business with the glove this series, otherwise I'd be upset that he's worse than Neifi Perez with the bat.

Oh wait.

If Mark Kiger is actually worse than D'Angelo Jimenez at baseball, someone please tell him to start looking for future employment. Yes, I want the Double A guy in over Jimenez. Jimenez really can't do anything well.

Home run Monroe. 3-0 tigers.

The season's over A's fans. Let's be realisitic, we can't hope to win either the ALCS or World Series with replacement level players at SS and 2B.

I'm out.

dola, checked, and Wells has one more year on his contract.

in that case, then, deal away!
