I had a six game lead and a magic number of 6.
Now my team is in the middle of a 7 game losing streak. I added Hack Wilson to my outfield. He has 69 contact, 57 gap, 85 HR power, 69 discipline and 27 avoid K's (ouch). I expected strikeouts but I did not expect him to be batting .164 through 18 games. That is just just shy of 200 points less than his real life average for the year depicted. Small sample size I know, but that just hurts. I have led this division almost all week and am on the verge of losing the lead and falling out of the playoffs all together

Thanks! Well, my #5 starter, George Uhle, who hadn't done well in the silver league (he did pretty well in the bronze league), tossed 8 innings of shutout ball and we won 4-0! So we squeaked into the playoffs again.

Congrats! To come some close then lose out on 1000PP wouldn't have been fun. Good luck in the playoffs!

For me at least, it's more painful to lose whenever I've had a nice lead than if I was already behind. So I can relate. But hopefully you can pull it off. Good luck!

All 3 of my teams made the playoffs.
My Bronze team is playing in the Wildcard game, and as long as the other starter remains Ross Stripling, I'll have a good shot at it. Didn't get my best pitcher (league Wins leader 2014 Felix Hernandez) lined up for the game, but have 1991 Tom Glavine going. My two silver teams are in the same league, difference conferences. They finished with the 2nd best (2nd in National) and 3rd best (1st in American) records in the league. Basically, there's one super whale team that won the league by 18 games, then there's my guys hopefully taking two shots at taking them down (or hopefully missing them altogether). They are running a Trout-Betts-Yelich outfield along with an all-diamond rotation. Plus, they've got that overpowered Gaavy Cravath card at DH, who hit 43 HR with his 103 HR rating. That's more than 1/3 of his career totals in one season. For those who don't know, he was the best HR hitter of the Dead Ball Era, and the ratings think he'll do just as well in the Live Ball Era. |

EDIT: Check out the year he had in only 116 games because I didn't pull his card until a little ways into the season. He might win MVP, leading the conference in AVG, OBP, SLG, OPS, OPS+, WPA, and WOBA. His pace probably would have put him top 5 for HR, RBI, and Runs if he played the whole season. He still finished 3rd in WAR. Last edited by DonkeyKongSr; 12-16-2018 at 02:19 AM. |

Either way it is my first time in the playoffs as a division winner so that is something! My hope are not high but we'll see how it goes tomorrow. |

A loss on the final day cost me the wild-card spot ... but honestly, with an 82-80 record you don't really deserve to be in the play-offs.

My silver team won the division handily (although granted it was the easiest division - another division in my conference had four teams that should have made playoffs). My matchup is against the top one from that conference (Chicago Skunked). Not sure how we'll match up... they have a diamond rotation that's probably better than mine overall, but I like my bullpen better, so might come down to hitting where we'll be fairly close matched. I won 100 games, they won 106, so not a lot between us, but I think they got the better of me through the season head to head.
My two bronze teams were in the same conference. Took a different approach with both - one with more emphasis on pitching and the other on defense and speed and strategy. Strangely the one without the studs in the rotation all outperformed their numbers (having C Johnson catching I swear helped), and had the better stats despite only one gold and 4 silvers. That team won the division although it got really nail-biting down the stretch. The other team with 3 golds in the rotation and some decent silvers on the field scraped into the wildcard spot on the second last day. The team we beat out was really adding stars down the stretch to close the gap. Funny - if my wildcard team can win (huge underdog because the team we play is starting Syndergaard and has some great power in the lineup) - my two teams will play each other. And that is a close matchup. The wildcard team (Gryphons) didn't live up to their numbers in the rotation so I added Benito Santiago late in the season and they went on a bit of a run. Maybe catchers make a bigger difference than we think if their catching and positional ratings are high. Anyway, fun seasons, and glad all three of my teams made it in. May be three quick exits but we'll see... |

I saw that. Your team made the news feed and I saw your quote there expressing your disappointment! That was a tight division and wildcard race... so close. |

I won my division with a 83-79 record. We were a really weak division. If I had not won the division I would have been out of the playoffs entirely

Well, that was ugly. By my count I still came 16th, so I will go to Gold League anyway to get pummeled relentlessly all year long.

Just saw that there is a One Hit Wonder card of Matt Harvey. That really tugged a string.

Clinched my division with 93 wins with 3 games to go in the season. Had me sweating a little bit... had a 10+ game lead in the division going into September and then ended up going 2-8 in the first 10 of September.
Can't check up on my team right now but hopefully when I get home from work I'm still in it!

Both of my teams missed the playoffs (one of them by only one game) and will be promoted. Next week will be a long week. Westheim, if it weren’t so far to travel, I would buy you a beer and we could drown our sorrows.

Yes! My offense lit it up in the Wildcard Game, winning 18-8. I picked up 2003 Edgar Renteria (waaay better than the 1997 version) and Andrelton Simmons just before the playoffs to solve middle infield issues (Javier Baez is worthless vs. RHP and I never found anyone to play well offensively or defensively alongside him), and both went nuts in their first game. Well, my whole lineup went nuts.
