Agree with "Bottom of the Sixth" post. Gold is achievable if your a serious F2P player AND you don't make any mistakes. I made a number of them this year...
1. I ran 3 teams which divided my time 3 ways. I always seemed to be in a rush which, of course, made for rushed (bad) decisions. next year = ONE team period. I'll probably pull 3 teams, but only focus on the best starting roster. 2. I think I screwed up on Missions by not having a plan. For the most part, I simply completed whatever I could - but feel like I spent a lot of Points getting rewards that I didn't need. For missions to pay off, you have to know exactly what your trying to get and how to get there. I never spent enough time planning that out. Thus - the real question is, do I do missions or just stick with the AH and packs? 3. The AH will help you out a lot in the early months of the game, but as the months wear one (like now) it's unlikely you will find anything useful there that is affordable. 4. Packs = Ugh. My luck with packs in PT22 has been HORRID. I can't shake the memory of getting 2 Perfects in PT19 in the first week. This year it must have taken me 3 months to get 2 Perfects. One team next year, I think, will be easier to manage and hopefully will be more rewarding. "IF" the OOTP team makes some improvements for "friends leagues" to help us out there, that would go a long way to keeping the F2P guys happier.

Asylum Takes Over Top Spot in OL S288
The standing shuffled a bit as OL completed its second month of the season.

Gold League
Cary picked up a healthy 11 wins, but Helthwyzer had the best day/month, going 6-1. Knockemstiff's lead is fragile, but they managed to pip the Southpaws 2-1, and who knows, down the line that could be crucial...

this part made me chuckle.....the GM of Waffletown reads the news of division rival Cary's financial woes then looks at his "war chest" and sees approximately 3000 in available funds (pretty sure the high point for available funds for the Syrups was maybe 150K)

Annandale has a lot of PP at one point in the cycle (from some very lucky pulls) but I blew most of it doing the Historical All-Star and FH#2 missions. I have been having some really poor pack luck recently so I am loath to spend anything until we see more missions.

Heh heh, I won't tell you how much PP the Kings have in the coffers now, but it'd be enough to put gold guilt onto every piece or equipment that the team own!
Paxville haven't spent any PP on packs for months, and, frankly, I don't think I can handle dealing with any more surplus cards than I already am. So I'm probably gonna start buying the cards I want at some point , rather than opening masses of packs. It seems like bad pack 'luck' is the general experience atm...

Gettysburg still leads, but Gem City in our shadow...
10 games for Gettysburg today while Gem City only plays 3, so a flip is certainly possible.

If I do come back it will def will be one team and a more causal play style. Much more happy with the stripped down Sugar Hill team and may do the same to Coney Island just to make it appealing. There is a line in the Warriors movie when they get off the subway in Coney Island, as they pan Coney Island from the elevated tracks their leader Swan says "This is what we fought all night to get back to?" I can spin into it into "I did all this for a barely above mediocre gold team?" |

Annandale 3-0 Nowhere 2-1 Silly 3-3 Lemp 1-5 too early to call anything. not much action yet & everyone is still in the hunt.

Tell the truth I am not terribly upset that we placed in a different league from DLL. Those guys are too good!

The more often F2P groups like OL and BFF get kept away from DLL, the better off they will be. |

I don't mind the OL/BFF pairing, I mostly enjoy it. F2P vs F2P is always fun. DLL is another story & rarely ends well

Got me considering starting my own F2P group for 23 and calling it the First Family, going further on the friend policy and going all out to make sure that ALL of us win, whether it be on the field or in the auction house. Last edited by Magus978; 08-25-2021 at 04:14 PM. |

Trammel is a BIG game changer as you should be seeing already. My version doesn't hit many HR's however, he is a RBI machine. Since PT19, I have always played using one team. I have no idea how the guys who run 3-6 PT teams can find the time and energy to do it justice. Granted things are not setup the same way as PT21 however, my team is doing better this year playing Pack-Only than compared to past years when I was pouring a ton more hours into the game, every week, while playing using the AH. Scanning the AH all the time looking for a "better" player, that may never work out or trying to pick up a player at a "steal of a price", who is part of a quick fire-sale, is very mentally exhausting, week after week; at least for me it was! ![]() Pack-Only is alot less stressful as you can only use players you get from your packs! To look at it differently, in a fun way, this kind of play mirrors real life baseball, in that you can only use players from within your "farm system".

I think the key is finding the way to make the game fun for yourself, whether its packs only a theme etc. I am enjoying GO on my iPad so it gives me a needed break from worrying about PT and that keeps PT a little fresher. |

In past years, I did not play any SE cards, I sold them all, too however, back then 85% of all teams had them too. This year it is different, from what I am seeing. I am big into playing my games/sims on a computer so I have not attempted to look at GO. What are you playing on it and what do you like and don't like about it? |

Gold League
With the crappy scheduling, the teams with a larger and more diverse fixture list will be far more deserving of a crown than Knockemstiff (i.e. Cary). Of course, that means nothing, so we'll see how the second half goes...
